So my take

meat takeis that boneless chicken wings are in all ways superior to normal chicken wings.

vegetarian takeFirm tofu is hands down better than all other forms of tofu, tempeh, etc.

And mash potatoes on pizza isn't actually that bad. Just make it a proper pureé instead of smooshing up a baked potato with a spoon and calling it a day.

My take is that as long as you enjoy your food I don't care how you eat it. Put pineapple on your pizza or make a banana and mayo sandwich or whatever weird shit you want if you like it eat it I don't really care. Folks get real bent outta shape with the "how dare you enjoy food the way you want to" takes it's stupid. Eat it how you wanna eat it

i have been observing voluntary dietary restrictions already and am seriously tempted to make the leap to vegetarian, because what i'm learning right now about avoiding certain foods is that it's hard, it's annoying, but it's doable, and I am capable of cooking my own food to some robust degree. It's time.

Vegan is another step beyond, i might get there someday, but i'm interested in moving that way. The inertia of a lifetime of eating meat, my relative lack of means, and the stress of life makes big changes difficult right now, but I accept the moral arguments, I want to get there.

Bone in meat is fucking dog shit and all the people who think leaving the bone in makes the flavor magically better are wrong, all you're doing is making people have to work eating around shit. I don't care what nerd shit you wanna say to me about collagen or bone marrow or whatever, the difference in flavor is imperceptible and the difference in eating EXPERIENCE is massive. I'll admit it was written provocatively, but I do honestly and truly hate most baked goods, hot sauce/spicy food, and pickles. I grew up being forced to eat my own cakes at my birthday parties. I like pies though.

firm and silken tofu are for completely different things in completely different contexts. all you've said with this post is that you don't know very much about how to use tofu

jalapeno, pineapple, mushroom, pepperoni, and anchovies

you get every spot on your tongue activated except for bitter: sweet, salty, umami, savory, spicy, cooling, funkiness from the cheese, acidity

Standard red beets are better raw and if youre gonna roast em, cut em into wedges first, skin on roasting is for suckers. Tried it at work once just messing around they came out amazing. This is not a hot take but a hot tip, people aren't against it but usually haven't tried it.

I guess my hottest is you can put fucking anything on a pizza if it already goes together and it's fine. Made green curry pizza before and it slapped.

I never really liked ice cream at all, and this isn't even me speaking as a vegan. Before going vegan, I hated ice cream, and nowadays, even dairy-free ice cream is totally unappetizing and unenjoyable to me.

We need to calm down on all the sticky stuff we're putting on food nowadays. Not every entree or sandwich needs to have hot honey or balsamic reduction. Especially as someone with a beard, if there's a sauce that's some sort of syrup, glaze, or reduction it's getting trapped in there and I am going to be miserable until I can wash it out. I realize that this is a problem entirely of my own making, but it's still annoying.

Firm tofu makes for the best analog for chicken, in my opinion. Some firm tofu, roughly sliced, soaked in Soy Vay Teriyaki, fried, and served over rice? Absolutely delicious, good texture, easy to make.

I don't know if it's my area, but I've also noticed firm tofu is generally on the cheaper side, which is doubly nice when you're trying to make healthy meals on a budget.

Mashed potatoes as a topping? Sure, not much different than having a cheesy topping on the 'tatoes as a side to a salisbury steak.

Otherwise, I can see it working like the cauliflower crust pizzas. Make a thick potato mash, pre-cook it some in an oven, add the toppings and finish cooking.
