Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Not an atheist drag queen.

[–] Luouth@lemmy.world 30 points 9 months ago

At this point, it looks like the US should focus on making a list of people who attend church rather than drag shows. If we're looking at common themes

[–] jaschen306@sh.itjust.works 12 points 9 months ago

Funny, never once ever

[–] coyootje@lemmy.world 70 points 9 months ago (2 children)

People would freak the fuck out if he was holding a Koran instead but because it's a Bible it's socially acceptable... Silly stuff.

The one on the right is probably literate.

[–] absentbird@lemmy.world 7 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Reem Riyashi was indeed literate, though there are also Islamic states that suppress female literacy; when the church is the state everything gets worse.

IDK the art the pappal state produced was pretty rad. Also Rome was full of enough prostitutes at times under its reign that it gave Martin Luther a conniption fit and more or less resulted in his thesis, that's a lot of whores.

[–] absentbird@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I'm not sure you can measure the prosperity of a society by their number of sex workers.

The papal states sponsored art from classical artists, but they also censored the artists and disfigured their statues. If the state had invested in the arts secularly I believe it would only have improved outcomes.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Well that's just like your opinion man. Prostitution economically sponsored by the church is fucking hilarious.

[–] absentbird@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

You got me there.

[–] FabledAepitaph@lemmy.world 50 points 9 months ago (4 children)

The Bible is alright by me as long as people practice it in the privacy of their own homes and they keep it away from my kid. I don't want them making 'em Christian or some other shit like that.

[–] ruuster13@lemmy.zip 35 points 9 months ago (1 children)

There's a Lot of incest in there.

[–] paraphrand@lemmy.world 12 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Ohhh, is that related to Mastercard removing the incest games from Steam?

[–] ruuster13@lemmy.zip 13 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Nope. Bible joke. Don't be too salty about it.

[–] lost_faith@lemmy.ca 13 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Lot's wife was a little salty

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago

[–] lost_faith@lemmy.ca 1 points 9 months ago

[–] paraphrand@lemmy.world 12 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I’m not salty, I’m just making jokes about incest porn.

[–] ruuster13@lemmy.zip 11 points 9 months ago (2 children)

We're on different pages in the same book, cumrade. Keep up the incest porn and I'll see you when I get to Song of Solomon

"Lot" and "salt" have double meanings.

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 9 months ago

Don't let that stuff touch the ground, hahah!

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 5 points 9 months ago

Nope. Too much genocide and susperstitious oppression. And if they follow biblical principles, they're child abusers.

[–] _wizard@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago

You clearly do not live in Texas.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 2 points 9 months ago

If you'd read a bible, you might disagree with that

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 40 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Another Christian conservative on a shooting spree. May need to ban Christian conservative thought if we are to keep our guns.

[–] SocialMediaRefugee@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago (2 children)

"police said was found naked, holding a Bible and claiming to be Jesus."

I'm going to say mental illness was the major factor here.

[–] garretble@lemmy.world 14 points 9 months ago (1 children)

We all know that one book in the Bible where Jesus is strapped.

[–] ruuster13@lemmy.zip 5 points 9 months ago (1 children)
[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 6 points 9 months ago
