Just looking at this makes my shins hurt.

I want to see a video of you using your stairs to deliver a fridge.

[–] Commie_Chameleon@hexbear.net 6 points 3 weeks ago

I'll only do it if it's one of those tiny Xbox series x fridges

"Do you not love my secret lair under a volcano? It's fiendishly clever. Your first task is to descend those stairs without incident. If you fail or if you refuse - I shall have you dispatched at once into my tank of hungry - very hungry - tiger sharks, Mr. Bond."

"Are they ~~man-eating~~ people-eating sea bass?"

[–] 30_to_50_Feral_PAWGs@hexbear.net 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Whoa whoa whoa, can we cool it with introducing the sea bass to sexism?!

I made an edit. But the substitute word gives me the giggles. Really. I've been watching the tv series Carnivale it's about a shady circus. One way they lured in the rubes was to have a "man-eating chicken" show. The rubes bought the tickets and then a carny opens up the curtain to show a man at a table quietly eating chicken.

This looks like something that you would pull a lever to activate to stymie the heroes who are pursuing you

[–] kleeon@hexbear.net 16 points 3 weeks ago

stairs is really not something you want to fuck around with

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 16 points 3 weeks ago

Love to think about tripping on those.

The Ankle Breaker 5000

[–] comrade_pibb@hexbear.net 15 points 3 weeks ago

There's nothing at the top of those stairs that could possibly be worth it

[–] blunder@hexbear.net 14 points 3 weeks ago

Its biggest sin is not that it is confusing or dangerous, but that it is ugly

"On each side of an alternating-tread ladder stair, every other tread is omitted,” Schuttner explained in Fine Homebuilding. As a result, “the distance between treads on a given side of an alternating-tread stair is actually twice the unit rise, which gives you more free tread area and therefore a safer stair in theory.

In theory, it's safer because you can put more of your foot on the stair. In reality, people will get confused on which foot goes where and completely eat shit trying to use the stairs.

Yeah if it were designed clearly and without a ton of holes I could see it.

[–] happybadger@hexbear.net 12 points 3 weeks ago

The bathroom is updownstairs and to the left.

Hostile architecture to ward off grandparents

[–] Xavienth@lemmygrad.ml 11 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I think this would be perfect for high heels

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 11 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Only a fighting game femme fatal who fights in heels could navigate this deathtrap.

[–] isame@hexbear.net 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I see you have a particularly type.

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 2 points 3 weeks ago

Who, Nina Williams?

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 11 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

These are designed to trip and stumble attackers in the event of a siege?

[–] Commie_Chameleon@hexbear.net 7 points 3 weeks ago

It’s like it should be the set piece in a home alone movie

[–] AnarchoEngineer@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Ah yes finally a modern style version of Witch’s Stairs

[–] Commie_Chameleon@hexbear.net 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I’m not a witch and it would repel me!

[–] AnarchoEngineer@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Sounds like something a witch would say…

[–] Commie_Chameleon@hexbear.net 5 points 3 weeks ago

doggirl-sweat I uhhhhh NO YOU

[–] QuillcrestFalconer@hexbear.net 10 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Looks cool but doesn't seem very ergonomic

[–] Commie_Chameleon@hexbear.net 4 points 3 weeks ago

I have to assume that this is an art exhibit or something (to be clear, it's just a picture I found on the internet, I like my ankles too much)

[–] LeZero@hexbear.net 8 points 3 weeks ago

I'm picturing having to use these stairs at night.

Not good, folks

[–] peeonyou@hexbear.net 5 points 3 weeks ago

My shins feel scraped just looking at this

[–] unaware@hexbear.net 4 points 3 weeks ago

At least it's not a black sun staircase
