What is with this protein fad lately? Seems like everyone suddenly thinks that "protein" is the miracle elixir that will fix all their problems. If someone lives in the west, the US especially, and they eat meat at least twice a day (as most Americans do) then they already get more than enough of their daily requirements of protein. Not to mention how terrified people are of carbs, acting like eating a single slice of bread will kill them, but eating an entire roast chicken dripping with grease? Nah, that's protein bro. 100% pure healthy.

I fucking hate how everything needs to have protein added to it now, I've seen it over here in Aus too, all the shitty frozen food that I could actually afford has been replaced by "protein rich" "power meals" that cost 3 times as much and taste like absolute ass. Why the fuck does a chocolate bar need protein added to it? Why the hell do people suddenly think that adding protein to something makes it "healthy" or "alpha" or whatever the fuck this trend is trying to claim.

It's derived from gym culture that comes from protein boosting immediately before/after exercise having a significant effect on gains. This has permeated outwards through red pill manosphere spaces that attached itself to male self-help and morphed into a sort of protein worship.

What would our world look like if the Body Building Forum never existed?

We'd all be just a little more sure of how many days there are in a week

Gah, why even shape it like that?! Unless someone in the dietary deep state is trying to warn us about the effects of actually following these guidelines hamas-red-triangle

If I might pepe-silvia a little bit, the U.S. is going to need to boost domestic meat and dairy demand if we lose trade parters to buy our massive surplus of soy-chill and corn-man-khrush because there’s nothing worse than letting farmland go fallow.

[–] Krem@hexbear.net 16 points 1 month ago (1 children)

in a normal world, you could just make processed healthy food from the soy and corn and feed 3 USAs (I didn't do the math) but since white people have been propagandized to hate soy and love cow milk and meat, the people in charge can't lose face by encouraging people to eat TVP tacos on corn tortillas.

[–] SteamedHamberder@hexbear.net 5 points 1 month ago

Your scenario of corn and soy for human nutrition is really win/win/win, because it also creates jobs in manufacturing the End use products without increasing the need for animal cruelty/slaughter. But, as you said the propaganda to associate meat and dairy with “plenty” is strong.

Where does pizza fall on this?

[–] ChaosMaterialist@hexbear.net 3 points 1 month ago

Must be dairy, vegetables^[and fruits if you are bold], and whole grains. It hits all the boxes

Well, maybe I'm NOT eating enough cheese

This still won't stop American corpos from mixing blue house paint with pancake batter and calling it a protein shake. The ancient Egyptians tried to warn us, but we didn't listen!

[–] HamManBad@hexbear.net 7 points 1 month ago

They flipped the food pyramid? Wasn't that a South Park bit?
