If she was really serious, she'd put forth a resolution to repeal the 2017 tax laws that gave $1.5 trillion to the ultra wealthy, increase corporations taxes to pre Reagan days, and individuals taxes to Eisenhowers day.

Other than that, fuck right off you Mewling Quim.

[-] HomebrewHedonist@lemmy.ca 30 points 1 year ago

I wish more people thought like you do. This is exactly how we go here.

These people really don't understand the difference between household budgets and sovereign nations, do they? Does she think a bank is going to repo an aircraft carrier or something?

[-] grabyourmotherskeys@lemmy.world 75 points 1 year ago

They really don't and if you tried to explain it they would ignore you and change the subject.

[-] blivet@artemis.camp 22 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Exactly. I learned that it is a waste of time to try to have a discussion with this kind of person way back in the 80s. They’re willfully ignorant.

They largely don't understand the role of government spending in the economy. These folks barely understand econ 101.

Get rid of the debt ceiling and move those debates to where they belong, in the budget.

[-] billiam0202@lemmy.world 93 points 1 year ago
  1. Someone tell this worthless person that national debt does not work like personal debt, and that the debt of the world's reserve currency is even more different.

  2. As a Republican, you're not saving the Republic at all, bless your heart.

[-] dylanmorgan@slrpnk.net 30 points 1 year ago

Resigning would be the closest any republican gets to “saving the republic.”

So she's upset that Republicans passed the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in 2017 under Trump that added $2.289 trillion in new national debt, right? Right?!

[-] bostonbananarama@lemmy.world 39 points 1 year ago

You just don't understand. Tax cuts allowed job creators to create more jobs. Tax cuts are like printing money for everyone in the whole country. Do you know what we need to solve the debt crisis? More tax cuts! Maybe we eliminate the IRS altogether.

I live in her district. She is an obvious Russian agent. I got a call from her campaign before her first election and they asked me "How important is improving trade and diplomatic relations between the US and Russia to you as a voter?"

If Congress does not pass a debt commission this year to move the needle on the crushing national debt and inflation, at least at the next debt ceiling increase at the end of 2024, I will not continue sacrificing my children for this circus

Ahh. So she's one of the child sacrifice Republicans

[-] agitatedpotato@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 1 year ago

Arent they all? They're pro birth because you need em alive for the sacrifice.

She won’t resign. It’s all standard GOP theatrics.

[-] Introversion@kbin.social 18 points 1 year ago

Unless she finds a better-paying gig on OAN.

[-] some_guy 35 points 1 year ago

I'd prefer that she self-immolate on the floor of congress. Make a real statement.

[-] watson387@sopuli.xyz 10 points 1 year ago

Nothing says “I’m serious” like self-immolation.

[-] ForestOrca@kbin.social 34 points 1 year ago

"I will not continue sacrificing my children for this circus", I'm really glad for her remaining children. smh

[-] Jerkface@lemmy.world 30 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

If Congress does not pass a debt commission this year to move the needle on the crushing national debt and inflation, at least at the next debt ceiling increase at the end of 2024...

She is priming for public support to force the US to default. This will be either to extract concessions from opposition in Congress (like a hostage negotiation), or to create a global economic catastrophe. Or both.

Of course, she will not resign. She swears a false oath. This was a winning strategy for them in June. Naturally, they will try it again.

[-] HawlSera@lemm.ee 25 points 1 year ago

Every Republican who resigns from politics should be given a check from Crime Stoppers

[-] joneskind@lemmy.world 22 points 1 year ago

Good. Resign then

[-] UtMan1988@lemmy.world 21 points 1 year ago

Boy, that picture of her is a meme diamond in the rough. You can see her lizard skin poking through the human costume!

[-] Rapidcreek@reddthat.com 20 points 1 year ago
[-] Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 1 year ago

Right, you promise??

[-] TwoGems@lemmy.world 19 points 1 year ago

Good, resign and have a stroke

[-] Vaggumon@lemmy.world 18 points 1 year ago
[-] fruitleatherpostcard@lemm.ee 17 points 1 year ago

Don’t let the door hit…. Uh… Scratch that.

Perhaps a minor concussion might improve her though processes.

[-] FartsWithAnAccent@lemmy.world 17 points 1 year ago

Do it!

(She won't do it)

[-] TurboDiesel@lemmy.world 16 points 1 year ago

I can tell just from the thumbnail she's a Totally Normal, Not Insane Person. Yikes.

[-] PrincessLeiasCat@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Goddamn she’s overdramatic.

[-] Semi-Hemi-Demigod@kbin.social 14 points 1 year ago

She’s trying to become an anchor on Fox, I guarantee it.

it's 50-50 without clicking through that she's trying to save us by a) voting to raise debt ceiling or b) voting against raising debt ceiling.

[-] buddascrayon@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

It's worse, she wants us to end government spending (you know that pesky Medicare, Medicaid, Obamacare, social security, welfare, food stamps...but not defense spending, go figure). And since she's a rich Republican she can't see the glaring solution of taxing the ridiculously fucking rich people to make up the difference. So she's throwing a little temper tantrum. And the democrats are eating popcorn and watching as the GOP sets their hair on fire. 😂

[-] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

Why so much wailing over debt? I bet people like this Karen would have their heads explode if they were made to learn about MMT.

and our children will be ashamed of another worthless Congress.

Asked further what she thought about global warming, Spartz yelled, "YOLO" and shotgunned a tallboy of PBR.

[-] YeetPics@mander.xyz 12 points 1 year ago

Please go full ashli babbit.

[-] Minarble@aussie.zone 12 points 1 year ago

Bye Felicia

[-] reallynotnick@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

at least at the next debt ceiling increase at the end of 2024

Yeah, so basically long enough that nobody is going to remember this and she is going to George Costanza her way back into the office.

[-] watson387@sopuli.xyz 11 points 1 year ago

Don’t threaten everyone with a good time…

[-] OldWoodFrame@lemm.ee 10 points 1 year ago

Sparz is probably looking for reasons to resign since she barely got 50% in a House district Republicans have held for decades.

[-] brawleryukon@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago
[-] redmoon@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

One has to wonder if she approved of the 2 trillion trump/gop tax cuts.

[-] Varyk@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 year ago

Rep. Spartz also swears to unfollow you guys if you don't listen to her. She swears.
