Build a modern, secure and attractive home, even if it means tearing down the old one.
If I remember correctly, the Sussex property itself is inadequate for modern security needs, so I agree completely, with the caveat that they should find another location.
This really should be something that is dealt with at arms length, like elections and other stuff. Its stupid but this will be politicized
Tear it down and build a ballroom.
