Read "evangelist" as "disruptive passenger". This is "spiritual warfare" about as much as black trash bags are racism.

Proselytize Religion
From Reddit
As a community with an interest in providing the best resources to its members, the following wiki links are provided as historical reference until we can establish our own.
Alaska, Hawaiian, and Horizon are all affiliated, so essentially one company has said "not on our aircraft." Good for them.
God botherers are the worst humans.
Nice, now she can pray herself to destination, surely a minor task for the creator of all things.
This will do wonders with their persecution complex. Still worth it though.
Whitney is another a la carte Christian grifter.
Matthew 6:1 “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven."
Call out their heresy as loud as they shout it. Remind them that they’re acting this way because they were lied to so they would sell their soul.
Then put on a red hat and robe because nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!
I hope the passengers shown in her videos sue her for breach of privacy. Because you can very safely assume she did not get anyone's permission to be filmed and used for her personal and probably commercial gain.
She has that influencer face on.
She'd probably be the first in line to get anyone praying to Allah thrown off the plane.
Matthew 6:5
New International Version
“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others."
Don't forget women are supposed to stay silent. So she shut her fucking mouth.
This lady was yelling her opinions to a captive audience
I remember a sermon about that from my catholic upbringing. I remeber very few thing from my childhood, but that stuck with me. I think because there we were in church being seen by others and being told we should be at home. The logical gymnastics of these people are impressive in a way.
In all fairness the verse doesn't mean "don't go to church." It's talking about people who worship in public for the sake of being seen. Like this woman or people who only go to church so they can say they went and keep up appearances in the community. There are plenty of verses that require mental gymnastics and this isn't really one of them.
In all fairness the verse doesn't mean "______" It's talking about _______.
And this is why Christianity has like 47,000 different sects and counting.
But no I'm sure random Christian Lemmy user #16 is the person with the perfect understanding of his holy book.
It's really not that complex. Probably one of the simplest verses to understand. And I'm not a Christian.
It's talking about Performative Christianity, which is what this person is ALL about.
I know I should not say this but she has such a punchable face. You can see the arrogance and smugness dripping from it.
If someone did this on my flight I'd demand to be let off. Any religious fundamentalist making a public spectacle to a captive audience should set alarm bells ringing. There's nothing that woman wouldn't do if she's willing to do that and feel she's perfectly justified.
Can you imagine if a person of Islamic faith stood up before a flight and started preaching from the Quran? You'd have SWAT on that plane before they finished "Praise be to Allah!"
I wouldn't be asking to be let off, I would be asking them to address the situation and either escort her off the plane or force her back to her seat to stay silent for the rest of the flight, and maybe compensation depending on how egregious it gets before the airline steps in and shuts it down. Doesn't really surprise me coming from evangelicals, but I would be reminding the airline that I did not agree to be subject to selfish people holding the other passengers hostage to preach at them in their terms and conditions, and this is not the experience I paid for. I doubt the airlines would agree, but I think this is a nuisance that other customers should be compensated for putting up with.
It doesn't even matter if it's religious, someone attempting to talk to the entire plane is unacceptable
So... Not a fan of the safety demonstration, I guess? 😛
I would be initially quietly demanding they duct tape her to a seat, as they are known to do. Its a long flight, I ain't putting up with this
Public prayer is pure egoism. “Look how holy I am!”
Pretty sure her book doesn’t approve of fakers who pray loudly in public as a way to get attention.
I mean, there’s a commandment about not taking the lord’s name in vain and this type of “look how much I love the lord” stuff can arguably be just that.
Matthew 6:1 “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven."
Literally was about to bring this up. The public proselytizers are explicitly anti-christian and Antichrist.
And they can't use the old testament excuse for not following it. It's in The Gospel for crying out loud.
Her book is The Art of the Deal
I don't think people like this are exactly big readers....
This lady is gonna end up with her own megachurch isn’t she?
Or a job as one of the interchangable blonde women on Fox News.
That's probably the point.
Not really atheism-related. Most people on the plane are probably Christians too, just not assholes. She's trying to demonstrate she's in a persecuted group for her "Jesus is our savior" opinion but it could just as easily have been any other common, generally tolerated opinion like "you're using 'literally' wrong" or "butts are better than boobs".
Great, now she’ll go on Fox News, get a job there. In a couple of months she’ll be running the department of “war” or some shit.
To her, this is the best thing that could have happened. People with a persecution complex, will do whatever is necessary to get persecuted.
Now that you point it out, it seems wholly (lol) possible to me that this was her plan along.
All I was doing was being an intrusive, obnoxious asshole and they started targeting me!
While the headline makes it sound like three different airlines banned her, this is actually just one company, since Alaska already owned Horizon, and then Alaska and Hawaiian merged last year.
Incidentally, as a gold member of that of that company's loyalty program, this news makes me even happier that Alaska is my go-to airline.
Hallelujah. May she be banned from flying in all airlines.
Let me guess, she's going to set up (or have set up for her) a GoFundMe where people who would never have spent the money to travel to where she is to listen to her speak are going to spend more money to donate to her "cause".
I generally opt for "live and let live" with Christians, but it's very hard not to draw the line with the ones who will harass you if you do not believe the same way as they do. However, I do think they also make their own look bad. I have a friend who I consider to be a "true Christian." His take on people like her is that when they spend so much effort to "show" you that they're a good Christian, they're most likely doing it to divert your attention from something else. This guy walks the walk, and he can talk it, but he prefers to show by example, not by telling you how to live your life. He figures the ones that can be saved will follow of their own accord. He knows I'm an Atheist. He's never tried to sell me on religion. I'm not saying people like him are the majority or even all that common. I'm just saying they do exist. I'm also saying that I don't think most Christians aim to get on that level. I think they're more like charlatans who know their religion is a scam, and they want to grift you over it.
So, I've seen multiple articles on this describing it as a national trend. And now I'm reading that it's literally just one insane rich white lady.
I was also reading that nobody could do anything about this person. But, apparently, private airlines can simply refuse her service.
Cool.
She documented the removal in a series of videos she posted on social media, one of which had racked up 3 million views on Instagram by Friday afternoon.
I guess it's nice that we no longer live in a world where that translates to instant free money directly from the social media companies themselves.
insane rich white
She has instant free money already. This was never about money. This was about making her feel good for pretending hard enough in front of others.
And stir up the idea that there's "anti-christian bias".
reminder that evangelicals are why trump got elected. They deserve your scorn and ridicule
