As an old white milk drinker who still unironically says rad, I can say with some authority that it was always “cool beans” and never just “beans”.
I hear lots of people still saying rad, and I think that's rad
I use rad, gnarly and groovy daily. I'd like to see some old timey insults come back like Blockhead or Pumpkin Lilly
I only use the most smooth Californian slang, like swood 
I don’t know. Saying “milk drinker” makes you sound like a total Melvin.
