Continuing with the rise in anger towards wrong think on world, it's now uncivil to post negative Biden articles.

Shockly that comm looks just like r/politics now

Every accusation they make against tankies is actually their own confession

[-] goferking0 41 points 6 months ago

[-] GenderIsOpSec@hexbear.net 29 points 6 months ago

[-] Diva@lemmy.ml 65 points 6 months ago

The libs have been unbelievably touchy about getting called blue maga lately

[-] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 25 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

Because the more self aware ones know it's true, and it grates on the edge of their minds.

There are more than a few liberals who know Biden is terrible, who know that 'vote blue no matter who' is idiotic, but having to confront why those things are unpleasant is deeply uncomfortable. Realizing that legitimizing 'lesser evilism' as not just a minor harm reduction tactic but instead as the overarching aim of your supported political party is abhorrent.

  1. Can I still post negative stuff about Biden? Absolutely! We have zero interest in running an echo chamber.

gee, what's a chilling effect?

However, if ALL you’re posting is negative, you may want to re-think your priorities.

maybe Biden is only doing bad shit

You get out of the world what you put into it and all that.

historical idealism

Being 'overly critical' of Joe Biden definitionally makes you a terrible and negative person, sorry sweaty I don't make the rules

[-] BurgerPunk@hexbear.net 53 points 6 months ago

The problem isn't that they posted negative articles about Hitler, we don't want to run an echo chamber or anything. The problem is they only posted negative articles about Hitler, and admited they wanted others to also be negative about Hitler.

Why all the negativity? Is that really what you want to put out in the world?

[-] erik@hexbear.net 52 points 6 months ago

Forcing all our users to engage in equal air time laws that don't even apply to major news corporations any more. This is all very normal.

[-] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 49 points 6 months ago

I wonder if Lemmy.world's Red Scare will result in more leftists leaving .world, and more Liberals from Reddit replacing them, creating a schism between Lemmy.world and related instances, and Grad/Hexbear/.ml. a sort of Multipolar Lemmy.

[-] goferking0 43 points 6 months ago

I'm curious how long it will take until world just defeds from everyone for that reason

[-] krolden@lemmy.ml 32 points 6 months ago

The admins know the userbase will eat itself without outside stimulus

[-] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 31 points 6 months ago

Good point, .ml has been the new target since they can't see grad or hexbear. They need a boogeyman.

[-] goferking0 17 points 6 months ago

Wonder who they'll go after next

[-] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 18 points 6 months ago

db0, probably, or lemm.ee. It will continue to be a moving target.

[-] D61@hexbear.net 23 points 6 months ago
[-] triplenadir@lemmygrad.ml 31 points 6 months ago

aka the "ol Beehaw"

[-] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 30 points 6 months ago

It's a shifting target, anyone not in lock-step with Biden is challenged or eventually banned if it seems like people agree with them.

[-] reagansrottencorpse@lemmy.ml 35 points 6 months ago

Yes. I was originally on world. I left because of exactly that.

[-] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 24 points 6 months ago

Same, but .ee.

[-] Leon_Frotsky@hexbear.net 10 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

ngl i think its kind of unlikely, maybe a few people will but we wont see any real numbers leaving unless something big happens like .world defeds .ml or the instance just breaks and even then i doubt that many people will leave

[-] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 11 points 6 months ago

Looking at it dialectically, I can't see this cold war lasting forever. Eventually the contradiction will be resolved, some inciting incident will cause it.

Might even be now, finally.

[-] queermunist@lemmy.ml 49 points 6 months ago

reddit.world

[-] nat_turner_overdrive@hexbear.net 47 points 6 months ago

wonder how many pro-china articles you'd need to post there to get banned

[-] Robert_Kennedy_Jr@hexbear.net 39 points 6 months ago

They will actually pre ban anyone who even seems like they might post a pro China article.

[-] dkr567@hexbear.net 44 points 6 months ago

Lemmy.world really is just a small version of reddit-logo

[-] Awoo@hexbear.net 43 points 6 months ago

Absolutely! We have zero interest in running an echo chamber

Unban lenins2ndcat then. All I ever did was promote communism.

Presumption of innocence.

Unban lenins2ndcat then. All I ever did was promote communism.

If someone pumped the gas and was posting dozens and dozens of pro or anti Trump stuff? Yeah, I think I’d do the same.

Bull fucking shit that's literally all the liberals do, endlessly. Day after day after day. I'm ok with it because Trump's a dickhead but come the fuck on stop being such dirty fucking liars while at the same time claiming this is about the person you're banning not being in "good faith". Holy shit.

[-] SexUnderSocialism@hexbear.net 22 points 6 months ago

"Rules-based order", Lemmy.world edition.

Unban lenins2ndcat then. All I ever did was promote communism.

Oh! You're Lenins2ndcat? I need to thank you so much then! Without you talking to me several years ago back on reddit, I never would've actually become an ML and would've probably been one of those smug lemmitors complaining about the tankies.

[-] Awoo@hexbear.net 6 points 6 months ago

Yep that's me. Was this a chat? I had a loooooooooooooooooot of chats 1 on 1 with users on reddit.

[-] DamarcusArt@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 6 months ago

A brief chat and a few public comments, I don't expect you to remember a 5 minute conversation 5 years ago, but just letting you know that you do make a difference doing what you do. :)

[-] Awoo@hexbear.net 3 points 6 months ago

Was it in r/therightcantmeme? I feel like I was at my most active (and hated by libs) during that period.

[-] DamarcusArt@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 6 months ago

Maybe? Might've been r/shitliberalssay, I haven't used reddit in years.

In usual lemmy.world form their explanation makes no sense and is even hypocritical. They say the poster admitted to bad faith engagement and provide a link, supposedly as evidence for this. The link is just the modlog saying they were banned for bad faith engagement, lol.

Sorry babe, I just banned you for racism. My evidence? Check out my ban message it says "for racism" right there.

They also suggest that you're not allowed to post too many anti-Biden posts. How many is too many? Why not let the users of the platform upvoted or downvote rather than create an unclear restriction? Of course there is nothing coherent because this is actually just a petty fan of Genocide Joe trying to rationalize why they banned someone for criticizing their politician.

To be consistent, this mod must now ban themselves for a month lol

Arrested for resisting arrest

[-] ksynwa@lemmygrad.ml 41 points 6 months ago

What's the acceptable good:bad ratio for reporting on a dementia-addled septuagenarian perpetrating a genocide in Palestine after having done cool shit in past like thr crime bill and going on a segregationist tirade against bussing in the congress?

[-] emizeko@hexbear.net 15 points 6 months ago

love to fight for reproductive rights by supporting the guy who voted against reproductive rights in 1982 and did nothing to stop them from being eliminated on his watch

[-] TheDoctor@hexbear.net 34 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

Why now? Presumption of innocence. It may be my own fault, but I do try to think the best of people, and even though they were posting negative articles, they weren’t necessarily WRONG. Biden’s poll numbers, particularly in minority demographics ARE in the shitter.

Biden doesn’t have enough slips to merit the number of negative posts, and the absence of anything positive indicates he was only here to stir shit up.

It IS possible to mention that Biden’s numbers are improving (they are) or that the (Murdoch owned) WSJ article was bullshit:

Dude, your house got hit by lightning!

Eh

Now it's on fire!

What are you gonna do

The fire is about to spread to your propane tank!

Jesus, all I ever hear out of you is negativity: ban-hammer

explosion this-is-fine explosion

[-] archomrade@midwest.social 31 points 6 months ago

I've kicked that bee hive a lot, can confirm they do not much like it.

[-] goferking0 30 points 6 months ago

They really miss the irony of saying you can't be critical of Biden while also saying you can't say anything negative in China that's illegal there

[-] FourteenEyes@hexbear.net 23 points 6 months ago

"bad faith" is when you say things indicating you are not a devout follower of Biden and must be purged for wrongthink

It's the dunk tank.

This is where you come to post big-brained hot takes by chuds, libs, or even fellow leftists, and tear them to itty-bitty pieces with precision dunkstrikes.

Rule 1: All posts must include links to the subject matter, and no identifying information should be redacted.

Rule 2: If your source is a reactionary website, please use archive.is instead of linking directly.

Rule 3: No sectarianism.

Rule 4: TERF/SWERFs Not Welcome

Rule 5: No ableism of any kind (that includes stuff like libt*rd)

Rule 6: Do not post fellow hexbears.

Rule 7: Do not individually target other instances' admins or moderators.

Rule 8: The subject of a post cannot be low hanging fruit, that is comments/posts made by a private person that have low amount of upvotes/likes/views. Comments/Posts made on other instances that are accessible from hexbear are an exception to this. Posts that do not meet this requirement can be posted to !shitreactionariessay@lemmygrad.ml

Rule 9: if you post ironic rage bait im going to make a personal visit to your house to make sure you never make this mistake again
