The way they try to emphasize that Trump's felony conviction for filing his taxes wrong somehow makes him less fit for president than a man who has legally slaughtered hundreds of thousands of people is kind of sick in an i am screaming in the prison of my mind way.

Me screaming in the prison of my mind when I say that I'm extra skeptical of Harvard's alumni instead of looking up to them. They'll advocate for dogshit about terrorizing people with drones or fixing bread prices

Liberals are white supremacists

But committing fraud isn't the only thing wrong with Trump. Trump is personally responsible for the deaths of over half a million Americans, through his corrupt, malicious incompetence in handling the Covid pandemic. He's also responsible for the deaths of thousands of Afghans after his craven surrender to the Taliban and his refusal to help those who fought there with us escape. His backstabbing of the Kurds led to similar numbers of deaths. His family separation policy was also a crime against humanity that was perpetrated against thousands of children. But don't let any of that get in the way of your narrative. Just keep repeating the talking points.

[-] Frank@hexbear.net 3 points 1 month ago

You should go look up Trump's role in the Yemeni genocide, friend. You're really just scratching the surface.

And my point is that Trump's felony conviction, specifically, and not his countless crimes against humanity, is what libs are holding up as the dealbreaker for his presidency. Most of them don't care about the crimes you mentioned. For them a trumped up felony conviction matters and the murder of hundreds of thousands does not.

[-] christian@hexbear.net 0 points 1 month ago

I know this is nitpicking but when you have Trump money, filing your taxes wrong to your significant benefit should earn this kind of derision. The problem is that it never does unless it's in some way convenient for enough other people who benefit from filing their taxes wrong.

I do agree with the sentiment that in the real world a crime against humanity is infinitely more meaningful than a felony and there's a reason that there's less focus on the Trump administration's crimes against humanity.

critical support to aoc and biden in their efforts to destroy the democratic party

Remember when we thought AOC was good?

I know now that she is good.

Good at marketing. That's the only thing she's good at however.

[-] AOCapitulator@hexbear.net 5 points 1 month ago

thats what's wild to me. even if you're a complete cynical ghoul like she is, surely you've gotta recognize that if you're a 34 year old politician you've got fuckin lifetimes ahead of you. plural lifetimes. american politicians don't stop till they literally melt into a damn puddle in the floor. how the hell do you lack the foresight to recognize that gluing yourself to joe biden like this is going to be detrimental eventually?

[-] AssortedBiscuits@hexbear.net 27 points 1 month ago

I think she knows something that we don't. Most likely, the argument over Biden's candidacy is essentially settled already by the Democrats and the plans to purge the people disloyal to Biden are already being drawn up. I think AOC has also made the political calculation that if she somehow loses her seat, she'll never regain it back.

[-] AOCapitulator@hexbear.net 44 points 1 month ago

Here's me shocked and appalled, never saw this coming I've been such a huge fan of hers for years!

[-] PM_ME_YOUR_FOUCAULTS@hexbear.net 41 points 1 month ago

AOC is doing what the Democratic Party asked her to do. Do you disagree?

[-] came_apart_at_Kmart@hexbear.net 43 points 1 month ago

she has an election in november and this is after a phone call "from" biden supposedly, which i imagine was something like, "stay in your lane or the party will hang you" because she sounds flustered as shit. also, the video doesn't let us hear what the question was though her answer started on something sounding like she was expected to comment on biden's medical condition ?

or it could have been some kind of down-the-line horse trade, which seems to be how the party machine cranks. "do x now, get y later." for as much hay is made over how the republicans function as a disciplined bloc (overstated, imo... remember all those house speakers lol), the democrats seem to have a pretty resilient party discipline mechanism for stifling a tea party / maga type movement in their house. every time around here when someone not-ossified was running as a challenger/insurgent candidate, they either got fucked by the national party before they could get started or got co-opted into the perennially failing fundraising machine.

i want to say it was a chapo episode post-2016 where they talked to Nomiki Konst or somebody like that about how fundraising works for people under the DNC aegis and it sounds like you're owned AF. like all the money has to be funneled through some party controlled account management and they get a fat chunk, they get your donor info, influence over where/how it is spent, and can hold it hostage if you're being uncooperative or "damaging".

anyway, it seems like the party has several mechanisms for capturing the energy of grassroots movements and pulling its leaders into the fold and they have all only become more obvious over the last decade or so. increasingly, i think the electoral strategy should be to let the national party collapse and atomize.

[-] Adkml@hexbear.net 50 points 1 month ago

Her initial election was the party trying to hang her. She's one of like three people that legit doesn't have to toe the party line because they'll be re-elected regardless.

This is just her continuing her speed run of being this generations Pelosi, there's zero excuse.

[-] Wakmrow@hexbear.net 21 points 1 month ago

The DNC gutted progressive candidates in primaries here. They can always dump 10 million into her primary and that sucks to fight against even if you win

[-] plinky@hexbear.net 14 points 1 month ago

but what are you fighting for if you fold everitim? thonk-cri

[-] footfaults@hexbear.net 8 points 1 month ago

do x now, get y later.

Best part about the Democrats is that Y never gets done. They just fool AOC and others to fall in line and promise that they'll get their reward later

Is AOC actually still relevant to libs? Someone thinks so if she's releasing this statement... But it doesn't matter who or how many times and ways they say 'biden is your candidate, deal with it' to voters who won't. It makes me wonder who thinks anyone out there gives a shit what she says.

[-] nat_turner_overdrive@hexbear.net 29 points 1 month ago

The campaign also thought a bunch of soft lib influencers were going to fix their youth support problem, nobody making decisions in the Biden camp is competent

[-] WhatDoYouMeanPodcast@hexbear.net 10 points 1 month ago

You know how every accusation is a confession? Do you ever feel like the strategy of just getting some talking head to support your candidate used to work on people? Like Johnny Carson probably had some double digit % effect in a swing states. The way they want to ban tiktok means that somebody was probably popping off about Israel 60 years ago and they just took them off the airways.

[-] nat_turner_overdrive@hexbear.net 14 points 1 month ago

That's the big problem with social media for the establishment - there's no management acting as a filter like there is in legacy media. It's easy to keep pro-Palestine voices off the airwaves if they have to apply for the job and get rejected for not being "a good fit" or whatever the made up reason is. Banning pro-Palestine voices on social media backfires in ways that just not hiring pro-Palestine voices never could.

[-] Bay_of_Piggies@hexbear.net 11 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

They were pissed TikTok wasnt doing the soft power manufacturing of consent all the big American social media sites do

[-] nat_turner_overdrive@hexbear.net 8 points 1 month ago

insufficient percentage of TikTok's c-suite are "former" CIA/State Dept/NSA employees, must force sale the-democrat

[-] futatorius@lemm.ee 1 points 1 month ago

TikTok’s c-suite

As if the CCP and their cronies are in any way better. And China, like all imperial powers, practices genocide internally and supports it externally whenever there's a buck to be made.

[-] nat_turner_overdrive@hexbear.net 1 points 1 month ago

define imperialism, liberal

[-] plinky@hexbear.net 14 points 1 month ago

Letting out a big sigh and flipping the AOC good / AOC bad switch to "bad" again

[-] Tomorrow_Farewell@hexbear.net 21 points 1 month ago

Was the CIA asset ever 'good'?

[-] CantaloupeAss@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago

In the time before she was bad, she was good. In the time before she was good, she was bad. This cycle has existed since time immemorial (the subreddit)

[-] Tomorrow_Farewell@hexbear.net 3 points 1 month ago

But when was she not bad?

[-] Philosoraptor@hexbear.net 17 points 1 month ago

She wants to run for president some day I'm guessing, which means debasing herself in front of the DNC.

[-] NapoleonBlownApart@hexbear.net 14 points 1 month ago

I wonder how Genocide Joseph Robbin'-us-of-a-future "hidin' Biden's boots taste

[-] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 9 points 1 month ago

There's something off about her body language. To see what I mean - watch some of it with the sound off. Like from 0:25 to 0:35. I can't quite explain it well. But she's like a bad actress overacting in a shitty b-movie and you wonder to yourself as you watch the scene - "This is awful. Why am I still watching this movie?"
