I don't think that will work, but hopefully they raise income taxes so I at least take home a bit more cash each month.

I'm not so sure that's going far enough. I'd be on board if they raised property and sales taxes so I could afford a bigger house and more groceries. Still, my employer would probably just raise my wages, effectively putting me all the way back where I started.

I'd hope and pray my employer lowers my salary so much I can be in a lower tax bracket. Than I can go on welfare which pays for all my necessities and is a solid flawless system I can live off of for the rest of my life.

Valid response if you're an oligarch

Were you homeschooled by a pigeon?

At least my all-American Dodge Ram truck will be cheaper, because it's definitely not made from parts manufactured in Mexico by a European corporation.

Stelantis? I thought that was a lost city under the ocean.

[–] Remember_the_tooth@lemmy.world 23 points 1 week ago (1 children)

No, I think you might be confusing it with Atlanta.

[–] FrederikNJS@lemm.ee 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

No, I thing you might be confusing it with Tampa.

Maybe you're thinking of a person or thing that packs down tightly by a succession of blows or taps?

[–] Test_Tickles@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Maybe you are thinking of when someone is always in a bad mood.

Are you sure you haven't mixed it up with the motto of the US Marines?

Point out on the pigeon where it is painful.

[–] don@lemm.ee 60 points 1 week ago

No, they were most certainly not homeschooled by a pigeon. Pigeons have brains and can learn things. They were homeschooled by a bag of wet bags.

snort

That was genuinely funny.

I know, right? What tariffs?

[–] omega_x3@lemmy.world 35 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Those things Taco always talks about but clearly doesn't understand anything about them and is scared of

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

At least I'm hearing way less 4D chess / "he has a reason" nowadays or are my filters working better?

[–] thorhop@sopuli.xyz 26 points 1 week ago (2 children)

"I hope Nordic people can swim"...

Graham, we used to have an empire that was complete naval. Wtf you thought?

[–] Droechai@lemm.ee 16 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

When I went to core school (mandatory for ages 6 through 15) swimming was a required subject. We swam in one of many tax funded swimming halls in the area.

Edit: I'm from Sweden, same as Greta although a fair bit older

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah same, there are like 0% of swedes that can't swim if it's physically possible.

I was actually a bit shocked when I moved more south in Europe that there were people who couldn't swim (or ride a bicycle).

[–] Im_old@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

I can swim like a bicycle 😅

[–] Klear@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

I know exactly the context for this comment but at least as far as I can see it's under this post.

Weird. Lemmy bug maybe?

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 17 points 1 week ago

"But the felon rapist conman told me so!!!"

[–] squaresinger@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

They aren't wrong. Tariffs could help bring the upcoming Samsung A17 to $1000-1200.

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 week ago

Ah yes, the upcoming "Samsung Phone". I hear it's going to be really game-changing!

[–] Vandals_handle@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

It could have been a homing pigeon.
