meow-bounce who wants food?

kitty-cri-potato who wants to get their head out of the way so i can put the food in the bowl?

[–] mickey@hexbear.net 14 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

My relatives' little doggie will guard the airspace over her food dish when you go to put food in the bowl, a real brain genius move.

[–] 30_to_50_Feral_PAWGs@hexbear.net 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

One of my cats does this whenever I rinse out and refill their water dish and go to put it back. He stands exactly where I need to set the dish and yells at me. Then, even if I do get him to move, he tries to smear his butthole all over my arms when I reach down with the bowl.

It's a lose-lose situation.

i usually go backwards, thinking "what do i definitely not want to eat". i'll start with obvious things i hate (hot cottage cheese) to get the mental/'gestive juices flowin until i accidentally hit in something that sounds kinda good.

yup. i do this. no joke incoming, just an inane mendiCAN fact. thank you for listening

hey, sometimes i know what i want, realize i'm missing a key ingredient, and then simply don't eat

[–] Rom@hexbear.net 18 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Sometimes I realize the key ingredient I'm missing, actually motivate myself to go to the store to buy it, then once I get home I find out one of the other key ingredients I had on hand is spoiled and I didn't buy a replacement, then I give up.

Fuckin' hate eating. This makes for a difficult conversation me and pretty much anyone discuss eating.

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 13 points 2 weeks ago

I feel the same way about sleeping, shit sucks and I wish I didn't have to do it.

Literally me rn, I'm preheating the oven to make some cheddar bay biscuits I bought a while ago and forgot about (it's not expired yet) but that's just a side dish and I have no idea what I'm going to make to go along with it ohnoes

Edit: I went with chicken strips

[–] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I doubt it's helping you much but biscuits would probably go pretty well with red cabbage.

(I've cooked red cabbage yesterday and not sure what carbs to pair it with)

[–] Rom@hexbear.net 8 points 2 weeks ago

Damn I wish we could swap. Some of my biscuits for some of your cabbage.

Food is nice and all but sometimes i do desire just to not have to eat because it just gets a bit fucking laborious constantly figuring out what I want

I just realised this is the most first world problems thing I’ve probably ever said

[–] john_brown@hexbear.net 19 points 2 weeks ago

You can fix this by cooking too many beans every weekend and then just having a whole lot of beans that need eating all week

[–] DivineChaos100@hexbear.net 13 points 2 weeks ago

Who's wondering what's for dinner?

[–] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 13 points 2 weeks ago

I want food

[–] infuziSporg@hexbear.net 11 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

if you can't come up with an idea in 20 minutes you must play a round of foodguessr.com and make whatever the dish is

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 11 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

Half of those are really easy because it's actually got spices and flavour in it that come from a long history of regional cuisine and half of the recipes are like "beef mince, salt, vegetables, pepper(optional)" and it just expects you to figure out which random European country makes this specific variety of bland nonsense.

[–] infuziSporg@hexbear.net 6 points 2 weeks ago

Colombia, Spain, Georgia, and Indonesia together make up around 20% of the recipes there.

[–] Krem@hexbear.net 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

i just got a blood sausage with oats and black pepper, and guessed four boring european countries that definitely have that exact same dish, but wrong. the game helped me out by telling me it's a very specific blood sausage with oats and black pepper called mykkekkykkikkakkrikkukkikkamakkki which helped me to nail it down

oh and for an indigenous pacific dish i'm supposed to guess USA because it's from Hawaii? screw you game

my new obsession: foodguessr

[–] infuziSporg@hexbear.net 3 points 2 weeks ago

About a year ago people here were talking about browser-based minigames and that's how I found it. I've been playing it religiously ever since.

[–] Weedian@hexbear.net 5 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

in my home I've perfected the strategy of giving my gf the option of 1 of 2 things I'd like to eat and that we can make, eliminating having to ask her what she wants for dinner. she never knows what she wants for dinner.

sometimes I'll make one of the options something she doesn't like so we get to have the thing thats my first choice.
