Holy fucking shit do these fucking idiots not realise who the ICE agents are? A lot of them are fascist true believers, they're literally the dudes that would've been in the SS. Do you think "de-escalation training" would've stopped the SS doing what they did? Fucking ridiculous. You can't train these people and think it will stop them from doing their campaign of fascist terror against the population.

[–] SupFBI@hexbear.net 57 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

These "opposition" are fascists, too. But they're also civility fetishists who want fascism with a mask of decorum and process.

[–] CrabAndBroom@lemmy.ml 19 points 2 weeks ago

Yep! Instead of having a right-wing party and a left-wing party (or heaven forbid, multiple parties with a diverse range of opinions) the US has a right-wing party and a nazi party, but the nazis endlessly screech about how the right-wing party are all communists and this works on the majority of the public for some reason.

Essentially the Overton Window has come of the side of the house, gone all the way to the end of the garden and then time traveled back to Germany in 1930.

[–] Lovely_sombrero@hexbear.net 28 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Didn't basically the same thing already happen during Trump's first term? I think it was with the kids in cages, and the Dems voted to give ICE more money right afterwards.

[–] Frogmanfromlake@hexbear.net 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Then they claimed it was different under Biden

Cages instantly transformed into administrative centers. Crazy

[–] 7bicycles@hexbear.net 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Do you think "de-escalation training" would've stopped the SS doing what they did?

At this point: maybe?

[–] CrabAndBroom@lemmy.ml 19 points 2 weeks ago

If by "de-escalating" they mean "throwing them down an escalator" then perhaps, if it's long enough.

Another hour of the day - another urge to fedpost.

[–] Des@hexbear.net 34 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

does anyone get the feeling the dems are waging war on their own constituents because they feel "betrayed" that they overwhelmingly turned on dem leadership over Israel?

sort of like a "you love Palestinians so much huh well now we're going to treat you like them". like active malice. at least from the majority zionist wing of the party

[–] blobjim@hexbear.net 36 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

No I get the feeling that they're who they are and doing what they want to do, not because they feel betrayed.

[–] Lussy@hexbear.net 12 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Yeah, at the end of the day dem politicians belong to the same class as Republicans. What are their constituents going to do, vote them out of office?

Also, these Dems realize that if there’s no elections, while these Republicans are in power, they’re in power. They can’t step aside just for some antiIsrael leftist to take power. They’re enacting their own pathetic power grab.

[–] InexplicableLunchFiend@hexbear.net 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The bourgeois class often makes strategic blunders due to their own moralism and ego though

[–] blobjim@hexbear.net 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

There's still no real opposition to any of this though. People still talk about "Democrats this, elected officials that, constitutional rights, call your representative, sign a petition, Trump Trump Trump, blah blah blah". I don't think there's really a large number of people who are completely done with these institutions and organizations. They're just begging to be brought back in by politicians saying the right things. How many times do I have to hear people blame literally everything the US does on "Donald Trump", as if he has dictatorial control over the military and everything else. There's no discussion of military leadership or other state institutions being bad. Once a Democrat gets back in, everyone will forgive and forget. And then we can all sing Deutschland Uber Alles and enjoy our imperial superprofits knowing we did our part.

This is clearly an act of class war, of the ruling class creating another mechanism to beat the working class and poor into submission. By escalating the class war, making it more acute and then failing to respond to it within the official system - they are creating the exact conditions in which a real opposition will form. There's "no real opposition" because historically we've had a slow-burning rightward lurch and less acute, more disparate class punishment mechanisms and avenues in the electoral system to slightly mitigate the suffering.

It may be a strategic error longterm for the ruling class to start escalating the class war outside the domain of politics into the cities and streets, or it might work out just fine for them. It's still a large risk that they don't really need to take for any particular reason other than scapegoating and their own reactionary grievances and bigotries and ignorance. They risk activating the apolitical working class and lumpen into civil unrest and eventual organization, when they could have just kept everything business as usual and just slowly arrested and deported people in a more restrained and orderly fashion like Obama.

[–] CyborgMarx@hexbear.net 33 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The strategy is pretty simple, as long as they present themselves as being microscopically one degree to the "left" of Donald Trump, then they can justify reactionary policies that would've made Reagan blush

Of course the true politics of these people is some degraded form of racist objectivism with zionist characteristics, so they always want Trump to keep pushing the envelope that gives them more room to play this kayfabe game

Dems are market accelerationists and firm believers in the Strategy of tension, despite their lying rhetoric otherwise

[–] Ram_The_Manparts@hexbear.net 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

So is the DSA ever going to stop running candidates for these people, or what?

Now seems like a good time for it.

The Democratic Entryism will continue until class consciousness improves

[–] Johnny_Arson@hexbear.net 32 points 2 weeks ago

Now hear me out: cool-zone

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 32 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

And republicans want us to believe democrats are an insurgent leftist party, lmao

[–] Wheaties@hexbear.net 15 points 2 weeks ago

Was gonna say, it's really funny to contrast this with like Steve Bannon going in front of the Conservative Partnership Institute and proclaiming that if dems win 2028, then they're all going to prison.

Chuds buy into the DNC pageantry of competent statesmanship just as much as liberals do^[because in America, everyone is a LIB ], while additionally recognizing all the failures of liberal governance. They just think those failures are done on purpose.

[–] goferking0 12 points 2 weeks ago

And libs/blue maga say they're the only shot at stopping anything

[–] LaGG_3@hexbear.net 31 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Can the body cams do something funny to the wearer if they're turned off?

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 23 points 2 weeks ago

If only the dems were funny.

[–] InexplicableLunchFiend@hexbear.net 11 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Make them little landmines with cameras that detonate if you turn the camera off or cover it, and gorilla glue them onto their bald heads.

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 29 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

The dems' plan actually seems to be: "Vote for us in 2026 and 2028! Remember the statute of limitations is five years! We pinky swear we'll do something then!"

Representative Ted Lieu

The statute of limitations for violations of federal law is 5 years. Your photographs, videos, and livestreams can be used as evidence in future cases. So while this Administration may not hold anyone accountable, a future Administration will.

The top reply right now.

Respectfully, Dems have yet to hold anyone to account.

[–] miz@hexbear.net 25 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

they won't do shit and that gasbag knows it

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 20 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

2026 Dem messaging: "The statue of limitations is five years. Vote!"

2028 Dem messaging: "The statue of limitations is five years. Vote!"

2030 Dem messaging: "Umm... Vote!"

[–] john_brown@hexbear.net 5 points 2 weeks ago

2030 messaging: the statute of limitations is five years, which is why you have to vote for us or the Republicans will deport us to CECOT

[–] happybadger@hexbear.net 27 points 2 weeks ago

👏more👏pescatarian👏gestapo👏agents👏

If you don't vote in 2026 and 2028, we won't achieve this. It will be YOUR fault if their arteries clog from red meat 40 years after they shot you.

mfw the Fascism Enablers party is enabling fascism

Before 2020, Minneapolis PD still made national news -- as the municipal PD with the most training, especially in deescalation tactics, in the nation.

I'm sure its politically expedient to promise police training, a lot of people don't imagine police officers as being bad, and can't imagine a world without police. It seems like politicians are being reactive to problems of police violence, and for the vast depoliticized majority of people, one hopes it will make an improvement somewhere in the system. And maybe it does.

But the vast majority of people don't know about Killology, nor do they know about the Deadly Exchange where police are trained by the IDF.

It. Does. Not. Work.

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 16 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Read the room? Why don't you read these lips loony leftist, "I LOVE ICE" the-democrat

[–] Coolkidbozzy@hexbear.net 15 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

they were just given $75 billion to ramp up deportations, even more money is definitely what they need

[–] sewer_rat_420@hexbear.net 14 points 2 weeks ago

I think the deportations would go more smoothly if they could toss 100 flashbangs per raid instead of just 10-20

[–] procapra@lemmy.ml 14 points 2 weeks ago

Also they want to fund the police! YASSSS Progress!!!! /s

The bill (i think) OP is talking about

The bill I'm talking about

[–] radio_free_asgarthr@hexbear.net 14 points 2 weeks ago

Wow, you would think they would feel the need to at least pretend to be trying a little bit. Maybe they are really afraid of ever being in power again. Because then they could be asked to do something and would have to convince their constituents and some of the less right-wing donors that it is important that they sign off on all of this just continuing.

Also, after Trump their usual song and dance of "nothing can be done because the Parliamentarian doesn't like it and we don't have overwhelming supermajorities in every branch of government simultaneously. The presidency is actually a really weak office if you don't control congress and can get past the filibuster"

body cams are great for showing us people getting murdered, and then the pig still serves no time.

[–] sewer_rat_420@hexbear.net 7 points 2 weeks ago
