Yeah, I could buy happiness for a lot of people with that money.

[–] infuziSporg@hexbear.net 18 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Or at least, you could drastically reduce the misery of a million people for a long time.

[–] TheBroodian@hexbear.net 16 points 5 days ago (2 children)

He literally has enough money to end global hunger several times over. He could reduce the misery of billions of people

The mental framework that is required to accumulate so much wealth is incapable of feeling happiness.

i don't understand how you could have 14 children and not have an ounce of interest in any of their lives, skill issue

kids are funny without even trying, maybe try talking to them once and a while

live, laugh, love but unironically

He has a breeding fetish and treats his children as objects I'd guess.

I'm glad you had a brief moment of introspection and found out how empty and evil you are, suffer you goddamned freak.

[–] novibe@lemmy.ml 41 points 5 days ago (4 children)

Crazy how incompetent these people are. Come on you have EIGHT HUNDRED BILLION DOLLARS. Just go skydiving, do a bunch of ultra pure MDMA at a festival, pay David Hockney to teach you how to paint, go on a safari, spend a week with a tribe doing ayahuasca….

[–] balsoft@lemmy.ml 27 points 5 days ago

That last one could get him killed if the tribe knew who he is (inshallah)

[–] Johnny_Arson@hexbear.net 14 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Idk about that last one...

[–] umbrella@lemmy.ml 15 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (4 children)

that last one could potentially unironically fix him

(or make him worse)

I don't think he has ever actually tried to buy happiness. What he has tried to do is use his money to generate anger, misery and nonsense. He has succeeded in achieving that, both for others and himself.

If he actually tried to buy happiness he absolutely could. With billions of dollars I could absolutely buy myself and millions of others some happiness just by putting it into projects that meaningful improve lives in an area.

[–] fox@hexbear.net 23 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Dude could say "I'll give a hundred million dollars to each member of Congress that votes in favor of universal healthcare so long as it passes" and voila, instantaneous people's hero

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 13 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Musk, Bezos, and probably a few others we don't know the names of could end world hunger tomorrow if they wanted to. They'd just have to bribe the US government to spend something like $100B per year, which is about 1/10th of the military budget. Every day that they don't is a reminder that the bourgeois are evil.

He could use his wealth to solve the housing crisis overnight if he wanted to. Imagine housing for all, a right for everyone, you'd go down as a champion of the people. But nope, instead he spews poison at trans people and stirs shit with chuds.

Yeah, he wants to buy happiness but he doesn’t really want to pay full price.

Because it’s not the case that money can’t be spent in a process that yields happiness, it’s that money alone isn’t sufficient. Happiness is the return on investments in kindness and other genuine acts of love, but he only has money and spite, which don't foot the bill.

Hide the pain Elon...

[–] Hohsia@hexbear.net 30 points 5 days ago

You have to be insanely mentally disturbed to be unable to comprehend how you could be a hero to mankind if you simply gave some of your money away. Like, a minuscule amount.

He is not only a sociopath but also a fucking dipshit. Apartheid blood money will really take you to the mountain, but this mothefucker is acting like he’s stuck at the top or some shit

[–] aebletrae@hexbear.net 36 points 6 days ago

What a loser. Kindness is practically free, yet he still can’t afford it.

[–] TheSpectreOfGay@hexbear.net 27 points 5 days ago (2 children)

He realized that you can't buy friends.

[–] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 35 points 6 days ago

Yeah community buys happiness. That's why everyone who alienates their community is miserable

[–] lurker_supreme@hexbear.net 24 points 5 days ago

@grok play boulevard of broken dreams

especially when your idea of happiness is to go to epstein's island to buy sex with trafficked minors, but you're such an unpleasant pedo elite, even the other unpleasant pedo elites don't want to deal being around you.

poor ultra douchebag elon can't catch a break. [sad trombone]

bullying works

[–] astutemural@midwest.social 22 points 5 days ago (10 children)

False. Absolutely false.

If I suddenly had 800 billion dollars, I would achieve a one-in-a-lifetime state of happiness by immediately donating it all.

Donation is pointless at that level since it ends up just creating new avenues of graft and exploitation as it's distributed.

Using it to build up strike funds, arm revolutionary groups, supply existing orgs with support, and create viable cooperative alternatives to existing industries might work. But at that level your $800bn really only exists as a representation of your stake in a system that is diametrically opposed to that kind of action.

[–] kristina@hexbear.net 13 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I'd buy all of America's military and hand it all to some quirked up maoist trans girl

The last thing I wanna hear from one of the richest people on earth is that they feel sad. Literally the last thing I wanna hear from them, cause it's their final words.

[–] comrade_pibb@hexbear.net 22 points 5 days ago

christ, what an asshole

[–] Philosoraptor@hexbear.net 21 points 5 days ago

Skill issue.

[–] Soot@hexbear.net 20 points 5 days ago

This is the equivalent of sticking your head in a bucket of water and then complaining that the atmosphere doesn't help you breathe.

At some point, you at least have to enter the door of the metaphorical happiness store and try to buy some happiness.

Aww, poor bby can’t even buy friends.

[–] DasRav@hexbear.net 10 points 5 days ago

Kill yourself Elon. At least that would make us happy.

[–] Sebrof@hexbear.net 19 points 5 days ago
[–] ashestoashes@lemmygrad.ml 18 points 5 days ago

I fully believe him. It's the only comforting thought about him, knowing how completely and utterly miserable he is.

He should spend all his money on a giant rocket to fire himself into the sun. I've revealed the secret to true happiness, you're welcome Elon.

IDK Elon I'm pretty sure I'd feel better if I had some of your money.
