Chuck Schumer is not only failing to meet the moment by not opposing the war on Iran. He has long been a hawk on Iran among Democrats and Americans who are yearning for peace.

Nah he did what Isreal paid him to do. To ignore America and do what they want

[–] PointyFluff@lemmy.ml 13 points 11 hours ago

He's Israel's best US senator

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 15 points 12 hours ago

It has been time for a long while.

[–] favoredponcho@lemmy.zip 27 points 14 hours ago

Chuck thinks his job is to make sure democrats keep supporting Israel. Thats verbatim what he thinks his job is.

[–] ApeNo1@lemmy.world 22 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

It’s time to chuck Schumer.

[–] CptOblivius@lemmy.world 9 points 11 hours ago

Chuck Schumer! That was a complete sentence.

[–] Wammityblam@lemmy.world 65 points 18 hours ago (6 children)

All these dusty old white men and women need to go.

These people have absolutely nothing in common with the average American. We desperately need young blood in the game.

Age and term limits for all positions in government.

Chuck Schumer will go down in history as one of the most vehemently hated political figures from this time period in US politics and for good reason.

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 76 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

Democrats of this period will go down in history as the functional mechanism by which the fascists were able to take over.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 4 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

The Chamberlain Democrats. Chambercrats.

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 5 points 12 hours ago

Viche Democrats

[–] Wammityblam@lemmy.world 26 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

I fucking hate that our options for political parties are inept or evil

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 37 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago) (1 children)

outwardly inept or evil

Schumer and Jefferies didn't slow-walk votes on war powers resolutions for two weeks before this new war because they thought it would fail; they slow-walked it because they didn't want to have to put Democrats on record as having voted against it. They didn't want to have Democrats being held accountable for the manner in which they govern and the consequences which extend from that governance.

The Democrats only appear inept if you misidentify their objectives. When you recognize that most of the party and definately party leadership, by and large, have the same goals as the fascist party, it becomes more difficult to interpret their alleged incompetence as being anything other than performative. They achieve the goals of their funders. If you are Israel, you are getting what you paid for.

[–] minnow@lemmy.world 15 points 18 hours ago (6 children)

This is why I'm giving up on changing the DNC and refocusing my efforts on changing the voting system from First Past The Post to Rank Choice.

But we also need the fascists out of power, and kept out of power.

These two things have to be achieved in parallel. That's why I vote Democrat, but only until I have Rank Choice at which point the Democrats will become my second pick (and then eventually third pick, and hopefully someday not one of my picks at all)

[–] I_Jedi@lemmy.today 5 points 14 hours ago

Now that would be a beautiful thing. Third party voters such as myself wouldn't get so much hate if ranked choice is an option.

excuse me. inept or inept and evil. competent was never a choice

[–] Peppycito@sh.itjust.works 14 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Only because Mitch McConnell is almost dead.

[–] TheFogan@programming.dev 11 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Well I think Schumer may be more UNIVERSALLY hated, because he sucks for both sides. If you think tax cuts for the rich are great, that Isreal should be able to do whatever the hell it wants, that wars are a good thing, you'll love McConnel, Schumer on the other hand sometimes says words to pretend to oppose those things.

So in short, if you are pro-fascist you hate schumer a little, if you are anti-fascist you hate schumer a lot... but at the end of the day, no one likes him, except for maybe the people that support his role as the person hired to lose.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 1 points 12 hours ago

I know a family who likes him. They are called the Baileys.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 14 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

He will be largely forgotten by the history books, a minor side character that 99.99% of people will never learn about.

[–] supersquirrel@sopuli.xyz 8 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago) (3 children)

No, unfortunately for him and his family, I do not think he will be forgotten at all. People will remember who was in power who could have stopped this, they will burn it into their memories like a brand so they never forget. I know I already have.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 8 points 18 hours ago (6 children)

And those people will die in a few more decades, and he will be forgotten. Regulated to the most obscure history books

Even kids today know jack shit about 9/11, nor do they care. You would be hard pressed to find anyone who could name the minority leadership under Bush Jr and who supported the AUMF or Patriot Act.

History will forget Schumer, Trump will take up most of all anyone ever learns of this era.

He should be deported to the state he represents. Israel.

[–] some_designer_dude@lemmy.world 10 points 15 hours ago

He should be lowered into Palestine like that cow in Jurassic Park.

[–] zr0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 19 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Literally anything in the past 14 months showed multiple times, that he is part of the problem.

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 1 points 11 hours ago

Pretty sure his approval of the big beautiful butt fuck bill was pretty strong evidence.

[–] xxce2AAb@feddit.dk 36 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Amongst other things, yes.

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 28 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

gestures vaguely at every action of schumers since 2016

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 3 points 12 hours ago

Sorry, i asked the Baileys and they said to go flurk yerflelf and GO ISREL.

I think it's past Chuck's nap time.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 14 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago) (2 children)

Man I really don't understand Jacobin anymore...

Gassing up Jeffries while pretending Schumer is the norm for the Dem Senate?

Jacobin should be ringing bells louder than anyone that these two are lame ducks who don't represent the DNC, the voters, or even Dem members of Congress.

They've been lame ducks for over a year, and in less than a year congress votes on new leaders. And no matter what happens between now and then, they won't be the best choices and they won't win.

The only reason they're in leadership right now, is those elections were a week before the DNC chair election, so neoliberal threats still carried weight. They don't anymore.

And it's hard to believe Jacobin can't understand any of that.

Quick edit:

And that's not even getting into all the prior ways we've been shown it's time for Schumer to go

How many more signs are we waiting for?

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

We're waiting for a sign on bone white paper in embossed Silian Rail font. Until we get that we will keep looking to the sky for a sign that we should save ourselves.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 8 points 19 hours ago

Fuck Chuck and his glasses.
