Objection! His murderousness Andrew Jackson deserves THREE powers

[–] PugJesus@piefed.social 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Honestly, Jackson fits all of these except rape and treason.

[–] sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

A surprising coincidence for a plantation owner, no? 🤔

[–] PugJesus@piefed.social 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Now that you mention it, I couldn't guarantee that he wouldn't fit under rape, tbqh.

[–] sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 week ago

It was definitely in style at the time and his slave's children did inherit the plantation. My money is on it.

Is such a shame Grant is listed as corruption when nothing that happened during his administration would even register during the last 50 years of corruption. Hell compared to what's happening right now his administration was Saint like.

[–] HobbitFoot@thelemmy.club 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

And it wasn't like Grant himself was corrupt. It was more that he was made figurehead of a political party he didn't have deep connections with and he was focused a lot on civil rights and mending the nation after the war.

[–] PugJesus@piefed.social 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

He did have a nasty tendency to trust people who shouldn't have been trusted. Not party insiders, but personal friends. Or 'friends' rather.

He was used by monsters who didn't care if they sabotaged his entire cause and the USA, as long as they got out with their bag of money.

Just a few more good men around Grant could've made all the difference in the trajectory of this country.

[–] FoxtrotDeltaTango@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah, grant was not perfect and he had some flaws. But he’s still way better than what we thought

[–] Sharkticon@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 week ago

Yes it's important to remember a lot of the narrative on Grant was shaped by a lost cause myth supporters. Tainted by should be the better word I suppose.

And people say we aren't ready for a woman president when I say AOC is our best chance.

I'm pretty sure she's not a rapist. And wouldn't protect rapist. And also not a pedo.

[–] arrrse@piefed.social 6 points 1 week ago

No no. She would've started all kinds of wars and eventually ww3 dont you remember? President of peace and honesty is way better 🤙

[–] notwhoyouthink@lemmy.zip 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Ooohhh that’s sweet, this meme assumes he knows anything at all about American history. I bet if you gave him 5 minutes he’d have himself convinced he was part of founding this country.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

I don't remember the full context, but he made a comment not too long ago about the founding fathers securing America's airports against the British in the revolutionary war.

[–] notwhoyouthink@lemmy.zip 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This is equally laughable and believable. Not at all bizarre considering the subject.

[–] PugJesus@piefed.social 1 points 1 week ago

Ramming the ramparts, seizing the airports.

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)
[–] Virtvirt588@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Its rape not pedophilia. He is a rapist.

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (2 children)
[–] Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

He has been legally proven to be a rapist (and a racist as well). He had depositions with corroborating witnesses saying he is a pedophile. Allegedly there are Epstein docs saying he is as well. But it hasn't been proven legally.

[–] Virtvirt588@lemmy.world -1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Pedophilia is a mental illness. There isn't a "both" here, pedophilia on its own doesnt make anybody a criminal. So please stop disregarding the severity of the situation, essentially spreading ableist disinformation.

[–] FauxPseudo@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's kind of amazing that Woodrow Wilson was only included in one of these groupings.

[–] HobbitFoot@thelemmy.club 1 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Outside of the blatant racism, he was generally a well respected President who designed a lot of the framework for the post World War II international order while not being able to implement it in his time.

[–] FauxPseudo@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Jonah Goldberg, George Will, CATO, and many others would like to have a few words with you.

Oh. And Shirley. I know you didn't mean it to sound that way but she is still going to want to say something.

[–] PugJesus@piefed.social 2 points 1 week ago

There was also the immense domestic repression, including jailing dissidents during WW1.

Also, the racism had a huge impact. The USA was no anti-racist paradise before, but Wilson set matters back a half-fucking century. And in doing so, took an immense amount of energy of decent folk into fighting to claw back the rights of Black Americans.

Exacerbating a problem not only exacerbates the problem, but also reduces resources available for all other problems.

Captain Pedo

[–] ClockworkOtter@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Any notorious paedo presidents before this one?

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)
[–] backalleycoyote@lemmy.today 1 points 1 week ago

It’s why Franklin never became president:

“the pleasure of corporal enjoyment with an old woman is at least equal, and frequently superior, every knack being by practice capable of improvement.”

Meanwhile Jefferson’s like “my fourteen year old slave can’t technically say no”.

[–] Modern_medicine_isnt@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (2 children)

To be fair, there isn't much good in US history.

[–] Godric@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

stares at the "thousand year reich"

[–] FoxtrotDeltaTango@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

There is some good in us history, but it’s very limited

It's technically there. Just ignored.

[–] TimboSlice@discuss.online 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Surprised they* went with that for Andrew Jackson..

[–] arrrse@piefed.social 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Wheres blatant stupidity? I think bush jr would fit that box as well

Bush jr was pretending to be stupid, he was actually much smarter than you think, but yeah, he did some fucked up stuff

Where's James K Polk's imperialist aggression?
