The single cargo plane Hasan flew in on was carrying something like 500k worth of solar panels. Everyone who went brought more food, medicine, electronics, or whatever than they are using while staying there.

Stuff like this really showcases how libs enjoy simplistic explanations for all the intellectual posturing they do. You mention something that makes a simple answer a little longer and they immediately tune it out as you making up excuses because they prefer sound bites over explanations.

It’s partially why they love referencing pop culture and I’ve found that it actually does work because they have no historical frame of reference so you really do need to make references to movies, games, or shows.

Yeah, I have a whole philosophy of what counts as good. It just so happens that America is diametrically opposed to it.

[–] InexplicableLunchFiend@hexbear.net 62 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yes America Bad. If Libs turned off their "brains" and just stuck to that one simple axiom we would have global communism in a decade.

[–] MeetMeAtTheMovies@hexbear.net 37 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The monkey’s paw curls. All liberals now believe America is bad because Trump made it bad. Denazification part II occurs, titled de-MAGA-fication, including a sham trial that manages to execute almost no one, top administration officials and scientists being reshuffled around the newly emerging international order, and the world largely failing to learn the lessons that ought to be learned from genocide and fascism.

Did they destroy AmeriKKKa though? That's the relevant part. If they do that, then the rest will fall into place. Even if they do it for a dumb reason like a Muellerian Jihad

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 59 points 1 week ago

Look, sometimes America is bad

The problem is that libs will never say that America is bad to the point of being worse than countries outside of the imperial core. America can be bad, but China/Cuba/Russia/North Korea/Vietnam/etc must always be worse.

Ugh if only Bin Laden had written a letter explaining his intentions behind 9/11 this whole thing could have been avoided.

[–] Rojo27@hexbear.net 39 points 1 week ago (1 children)

All he had to say was "Bush asked me to do it"catgirl-cry

[–] Goblinmancer@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago

Bush was about to admit it but then Bin Laden the LOSER prince takes the credit and says gg ez as usual.

Its why he just paint things nowadays its so sad to see your supposed life work be stolen away.

[–] cisco@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago

Osama was a liberal because he thought that Americans can just vote against genocide

I hate the 'You just think America is bad, so you can't possible see how [insert America's enemies here] could be bad, too!' response you can get from pretty much everyone. It's not a belief they had previously scrutinized but one they usually come up with in the moment, literal confabulation because you've raised too many points about the true evils of imperialism.

And I'm talking really hate it, bros. You will receive this response if you're being a glib asshole making hot memes, or if you've delivered a painful dissertation on your extremely niche area of special interest in which they've never even read a wiki article on. It is, from the school of thought that defaults to Harry Potter and Star Wars to understand the world, a tacit attempt to pass their refusal to engage as an enlightened wisdom, as them truly understanding the greys of the world and yourself, simply a stooge for having read more than a CNN article about the topic.

It's probably my biggest challenge in educating potential comrades because it's a cognitive hurdle for me. I'm already fighting against my brain shutting down from rage when they bring up this halfhearted debate pervert logic, how am I meant to engineer the conversation back to somewhere productive? Nine times out of ten I can't.

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 26 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Usually whatever enemy america has that can be called bad is bad as direct result of amerixan action in the region

[–] cisco@hexbear.net 7 points 1 week ago

And sometimes they’re simply inspired by America’s actions, like Nazi Germany

This makes it sooooo hard to organize the left in America.

I go with some variation of "both sides having done 'bad things' doesn't stop you from choosing the correct side when you're watching a movie and it shouldn't stop you from choosing the correct side in real life."

[–] Dort_Owl@hexbear.net 48 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

What zero knowledge of imperialism does to a motherfucker

Bonus point for "ah you hate America but you'll use our electricity."

[–] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 20 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

You hate America but I notice you don't live feral in the woods to be hunted by the police. Hypocrite much?

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 10 points 1 week ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

Same bullshit as "Oh you don't like capitalism, move to China or North Korea!"

It costs something like $50,000 to renounce your citizenship and if you don't continue paying taxes interpol will kidnap you.

[–] SmithrunHills@hexbear.net 45 points 1 week ago (1 children)

"said America deserved 9/11"

Meanwhile they support unlimited 9/11s onto global south countries, especially adversaries in the Middle East

[–] invalidusernamelol@hexbear.net 14 points 6 days ago

They've literally done a thousand 9/11s in Iran since the beginning of this month! Not to mention Gaza!

[–] Collatz_problem@hexbear.net 45 points 1 week ago (1 children)

"America bad" makes you right about 90% of the time, which is significantly better than average liberal achieves.

[–] InexplicableLunchFiend@hexbear.net 26 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

More like 99% of the time post WW2

[–] Dr_Pepper@hexbear.net 26 points 1 week ago (3 children)

When has the USA been a positive otherwise? I honestly can't think of anything. And in WW2, they ended it by dropping 2 nukes to intimidate the Soviet Union and also stole all the credit from the Soviet Union.

[–] InexplicableLunchFiend@hexbear.net 27 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Pressured UK/Israel to back off during the Suez Crisis. Sanctioning Apartheid South Africa. Sometimes made legitimate moves towards detente and nuclear deproliferation. Uhhh.... exported all their means of production to China chasing short term profits?

My understanding is CFC regulations to protect the ozone started in the US. It was the University of California that first started studying the longevity of chlorofluorocarbons in the upper atmosphere, and the U.S. National Academy of Sciences that first published the ozone depletion hypothesis. Six years later, the US was among the first countries to start to limit the use of CFCs.

Literally the only thing I can think of, and the CFC replacements are actually forever chemicals so it's kind of a mixed bag...

[–] Dr_Pepper@hexbear.net 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I was more thinking with foreign policy.

[–] christian@hexbear.net 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Just give her credit for finding an example at all.

The worst in fact

[–] GnastyGnuts@hexbear.net 42 points 1 week ago

Even as a straw-man of a political ideology "America bad" puts you on the right side of things more often than any pro-america liberal horseshit would. "yeah america is sometimes bad (only sometimes!), but don't do reflect too much on that because we're still better than our designated enemies."

It's actually extremely important to correctly identify the fundamental character of the global hegemon, whichever nation that is at any given point in time. The most powerful nation on earth always plays a major role in shaping the conditions that every other nation must respond to, so yeah a lot of things will come back to something the US did if you actually follow the leads far enough.

In the future, maybe we'll have dipshits going "why do you make everything about China?"

[–] segfault11@hexbear.net 37 points 1 week ago

Look, sometimes America is bad.

actually it's always

But that's quite literally the only lens they're capable of seeing the world through.

because it's true.

It's why the DSA cozied up to Maduro.

good

It's why Hasan thinks the Houthi terrorists are so cool and said America deserved 9/11.

yes, and it did

If something is against America, it's good. End of story. They don't have an ideology beyond that.

yes, of course

A Marxist understanding of capitalism leads to anti-imperialism. Anti-imperialism is understood by detractors as a simple rhetorical dressing over simplistic heuristics like “reflexive anti-americanism,” “history repeats itself,” and “the military-industrial complex needs contracts,” but all of these are reductive. Marxists understand that human political leadership in the imperial periphery, whether enlightened or tyrannical, will only be antagonized by empire for one single possible reason: it is getting in the way of market penetration. This is phrased succinctly by Kevin Dooley when criticizing Noam Chomsky’s support for a military alliance between the Kurds and the USA in Syria: “The difference between [Chomsky’s] position and a hard-line anti-imperialist position isn’t tactical. What he’s arguing is simply a violation of anti-imperialist principles based on a fundamentally different understanding of what can drive the empire to act in the world.” [16]

[–] GenderIsOpSec@hexbear.net 29 points 1 week ago

even if your ideology is only opposing the usa no matter what it does you'll be correct like 80-90% of the time, so I dont see why that wouldnt be your reflexive first stance emilie-shrug

[–] Goblinmancer@hexbear.net 27 points 1 week ago

How convenient "trump bad" libs become "well actually america is only sometimes bad" when trump does bad things against non-western nations.

Same thing liberal zionists being "netanyahu bad" but still goes "well aktually even though i "hate" netanyahu technically its not a genoicide"

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 23 points 1 week ago

Liberalism is when you think the resting state of a globe straddling empire is neutrality, trundling into good or bad situationally, I guess

[–] dkr567@hexbear.net 22 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Centrist-fascists all talk the exact the same way and it is getting tiresome.

[–] TheLastHero@hexbear.net 22 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

America is a world spanning hegemonic empire, those are bad. Not hard unless you're a lib. If the USA wants to be respected more they need to give up imperialism and pay reparations to the victims

[–] Rojo27@hexbear.net 19 points 1 week ago

-Yeah sometimes America bad

-Proceeds not to say what makes America good in his eyes.

Thank youtenna-bow

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 15 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Name one good thing America has done ever.

[–] Blakey@hexbear.net 17 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Lotta br*tish "people" died in the revolution I guess

[–] ComradeRat@hexbear.net 2 points 6 days ago

The british were the lesser evil in the yank rebellion tbh

A large part of the reason the yanks rebelled is their real estate investments in native land were threatened by britain beginning to enforce native land rights more atrongly after the 7 years war, including actually taking (violent!) action against illegal settlers on native lands. George washington and his real estate buddies didnt like this

Its horrifying, but the yanks were actually.literally such greedy assholes that even the brits were like "dude wtf"

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 22 points 1 week ago

More survived and became Americans

[–] hollowmines@hexbear.net 12 points 1 week ago

I mean America used to do good things on occasion if only via soft-power initiatives explicitly designed to expand its influence, but that's over now so....
