I'll add more later, but I'm most excited for the new Chat Pile record in September. The single from it, Deep Blue, is fucking incredible. An added twist of Midwest 90s emo inspired lyrical summation of the dull evil of modern life with their usual lumbering ultra heavy sound.

Bro, Karnivool finally released a new album after 13 years and it slaps. 2026 has been pretty stacked for me so far.

Cryptic Shift. Jazzy/proggy/space thrash modelled after Blood Incantation. This has probably been the biggest thing for me so far, just found these guys with this release.

Blood Incantation themselves. Another ambient synth release that's the sountrack to an upcoming documentary.

Spirit Adrift with their final album. Really epic doomy sludge stuff. Again, why do I just find out about these guys at the end of their career?

Louie Zong just released Seal Of Approval, but he puts out new stuff all the time.

Good Tiger finally dropped their new album. Proggy, fast, ambient at times stuff. I really liked their last album, in my head it sounded like Protest The Hero but listening back it is not.

Plantoid released Flare. Very complimentary to Good Tiger.

Tofubeats. Found out about this guy from the music video to Dancefloor. Very Mother 2 inspired animated video.

Devin Townsend with The Moth. Got me listening to his recent releases again.

Frozen Soul with No Place For Warmth. Fun throwback kind of metal, the last track is really fun.

Squarepusher with Kammerkonzert. He's more of an electronic guy but this is very jazzy and orchestral. I am embarrassingly late on this guy.

Plini has a new album but I haven't listened to it yet. He does instrumental guitar stuff. I could go see him soon so I should get tickets.

Archspire with Too Fast To Die. The fastest band in the world is back and the are living up to the title.

Green Carnation. They do heavy, epic, proggy stuff. They released an album around the same time as Psychotic Waltz back in 2020 and it was great to bounce between the two.

Converge have released two albums this year already.

Tailgunner do Iron Maiden style dual guitar music and one of their guitarists is a woman.

Paul Gilbert released WROC. All the lyrics are from Washington's Rules Of Engagement and it can either be seen as a Dad Album or even making fun of a slave owner for telling other people how to act.

Thanatotic Desire did a really good cover of Holy Wars so I'm going to check them out.

Iron Regan with a new EP, they seem cool.

Hellripper released Coronach. Just good heavy fun.

Monstrosity released a new album. I just found out Corpsegrinder used to be in the band.

Periphery released Pale White Dot, my favourite of theirs was IV so this isn't as high for me.

Someone else mentioned Slift and I just checked them out, they're cool.

Others have mentioned Angine de Poitrine so no need to expand on that aside from mentioning I listened to them too.

And that's just albums this year. There are a bunch of singles from bands I like out but I just wait for the full release

Boundaries’ 2024 album Death Is Little More ended up being my AOTY 2025. I’m in the same boat as you so at this rate it’ll probably be a 2025 album for me for 2026.

Action Bronson - Planet Frog . Pretty solid drop, maybe not as good as his last two but they were incredible so it's a high bar

I wish I could dox myself, the band I'm in is releasing an album soon and it's sick as hell. I'll check out stuff in this thread, the newest thing that was interesting I saw someone here did mention, Angine de Poitrine, groovy shit, I haven't heard too much of their work though.

Cult of the Damned released their new album Simony not too long ago which is fucking sick from front to back and has been in heavy rotation for me since its release.

What Lies Below - Monolith is an EP I stumbled upon and have been quite enjoying.

Lorn also released new music but it is nothing like his usual stuff that I like ans is more like an album of noise / drone - Searing Blood. Can't really recommend it personally, I think it is dog shit compared to his previous releases but if you like some drone then maybe check it out!

Tinariwen and Teddy Afro's new albums, Hoggar and Etorika, stand out. My favorite tracks from them are "Erghad Afewo" and "Sememene (GuReggae)".

Vince Staples - Cry Baby: Killer rap album with a lot of rock and punk elements. The opener, Blackberry Marmalade is my favorite track.

Genesis Owusu - Redstar Wu & the Worldwide Scourge: Another great rap album. Death Cult Zombie is my favorite track.

Ratboys - Singing to an Empty Chair: Indie rock with a country/folk vibe. Anywhere is my favorite tack.

Hemlocke Springs - The Apple Tree Under the Sea: Deranged pop music, I love it. Head, Shoulders, Knees and Ankles is my favorite track.

Gorillaz - The Mountain: Their best album since Plastic Beach, has a lot of Indian musical influences. Orange County is my favorite track.

Mclusky - i sure am getting sick of this bowling alley: A short post hardcore/punk EP, love this band a lot. i know computer is my favorite track.

Kasey Musgraves - Middle of Nowhere: Straight up country album if you're into that. Dry Spell is my favorite track.

I didn't love the new They Might Be Giants album but the single Wu-Tang is fantastic.

Oh man. I'm leaving my list of albums that have been on repeat this year. These albums have scored highly on my rating list. Remember that all music is subjective!

A$AP Rocky - Don't Be Dumb: solid rap album. The flows are fun.

El Ten Eleven - Nowhere Faster: New ideas were explored and it paid off. And they stay true to form.

Unwed Sailor - High Remembrance: Speaking of El Ten Eleven, I haven't heard an instrumental album that took me back to El Ten Eleven's debut.

Cola - Cost Of Living Adjustment: The band produced another fun album. Great riffs and rhythms

Jeff Parker - Happy Today: Jazz album with guitar. It's chillll.

Boards of Canada - Inferno: The synth giants are back.

Slift - Fantasia - Heavy hitting melodic passages. This progressive psychedelic rock band is one to keep an eye out on.

Midrift - Silhouette: Post punk..? Maybe? A pretty balanced album as far as emo post punk(?) goes.

Angine de Poitrine - Vol. II: Awesome math rock. Production is so crisp.
