I was walking through a public cemetary that had a section full of freemasons' symbols, so I looked it up online and was served the freemasons' subreddit. It's got some good stuff.

The corporate executives and politicians who maintain the status quo make up senior leadership to the point it is beyond coincidence and lean into the deliberate intention.
On one hand these secret societies are silly as hell on the other hand there’s some great freemason buildings in my city (no longer used by them) plus they’ve managed to make new friends as adults which is no small feat
honestly we need state intervention on the "make new friends as adults" front. I'm talking state backed bowling leagues (and other stuff) that you get paid for attending. Call it a direct investment in the social fabric.

I don't think you need to pay people to attend so much as put in legal third-place protections so they can't be ratfucked into nonexistence by landlords but that'll never happen

The Freemasons are functionally a country club and honestly they're pretty transparent about it all. Like not the internals, that's all chattenham house rules, but like you can just ask them about it
My father is/was a Freemason. Idk if he still is, I've disowned him. I used to mow his Lodge's lawn for a bit of extra money as a kid.

Its just a petite bourgeois networking operation. The chuds in my town are almost all free masons and some of them work as real estate agents and their boss is also a free mason.
An old friend had a side-job as a waiter/server in the local lodge. She had an NDA and wouldn't tell us too many details, but based on what they ate, I'd say either chuds or very old people (or both, I guess). Lots of meat, gravy and potatoes and very little else.

It’s just a social club for dudes. Guys gotta have some pageantry to excuse hanging out, but not the gay kind, to hang out regularly. Unless it’s a sports or drinking thing. Or if they're gay.

Free Mason are fucking weird. They are ideology all over the place. My father in law and his family are all masons. My wife thought about joining back in what we call "the before times" back before our eggs cracked and we were more reactionary. And the stuff she would tell me is wild.

Its been over the years. I've asked her to compile some things. She kind of had a moment realizing some of the things when she said "yeah I guess it's not a normal thing for a random stranger to come to my grandpa's funeral and give part of the eulogy"
