I feel bad for her - because that’s got to be dementia or something - but she shouldn’t be driving.
probably just booze and pills
Doesn't understand rotation of an object. Drives a cubic ton of metal on wheels in the streets.
My only thought as to why this could occur is that either the person is intoxicated or has some sort of cognitive issue like dementia OR that it was deliberately done as a sketch to make a viral video. The former are scary to think about. I can understand a "normal" person making this mistake once or twice, but the fact that it's continuous and repeated would lead toward impairment.
I immediately thought this is a person on opiates.
Source: saw my mother do this when I was young.
Drives a cubic ton of metal
What’s a cubic ton?
Is that like making the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs?
No spatial awareness. Absolutely none.
This person should not be allowed to operate a vehicle ever
I've been practicing driving with a person who shouldn't drive. She has no feeling for the car, i. e. doesn't understand how you would correct your position, drive in reverse etc., and it feels like she's asleep with her eyes open. Imo driving is a constant stream of decisions and she just doesn't make any. "Why are we driving here?" - "I've been looking for somewhere to turn around." - "We're passing suitable locations every 3 seconds and you're going 50." - "I can't decide in time which to use."
She's afraid to go the speed limit, highways are off limits. The other day she just straight up drove out into an intersection from a yield side without breaking and stopped in the middle. I warned her it was coming, there were signs and everything. She doesn't know the speed limit when it's always very clearly signed. She doesn't read directions and can't navigate by herself; "if I say nothing, go straight, or right if straight is not an option" is forgotten after 5 minutes. She's been driving with an instructor (which I am not) for 20 lessons and we've gone at least ten times, too.
Having a society that's designed so everyone has to drive is absurd.
I mean sometimes you just have to admit someone is dumb or has a specific deficiency and move on.
I'm pretty sure I have some deficiencies, but I'm lucky I got to learn pretty young on a farm. I'm torn between wanting to advocate kids have access to like go kart tracks at school vs funding more public transit and walkable communities, as someone else said. Both would be dope tho
The fact that someone that stupid is allowed to drive.
And too stupid to realise the hoses are designed to reach the other side of the car here too.
I don't know about where you live, but very few stations where I am have hoses long enough to do this. I think costco pumps are the only ones I've seen that are long enough.
She's just going to drive away with it anyway.
People like this are why I support walkable communities and convenient, free mass transit.
We should strive for the least common denominator :-/
Some people were never meant to operate machinery of any kind, much less machines physically larger than they are.
Like, don’t even let this person touch a lawnmower.
Protip look at fuel gage you'll see a symbol telling you which side ◀️⛽ Sadly modern technology can only take us so far
Am I the only one who did pump fuel perfectly fine from the "wrong side"?
Usually the hose is long enough to do it safely as long as the car is not too behind the pump.
In the Miata community, it's called "Doing The Thing."
Meanwhile Triumph TR4 is like, "What do you mean which side?"
LOL I was ready to defend the driver, having pulled in on the wrong side of the pump once or twice. I drive different cars, and while most have it on the driver's side, one vehicle I drive regularly has it on the opposite side, so I have occasionally made the mistake.
But then I corrected it by turning the car around and pulling into the pump on the correct side...
on the dashboard, there is an arrow next to the fuel icon. It shows which side to fill.
But every time I pull around to the other side, the arrow keeps pointing away from the pumps!
On some models yeah. I've had cars that didn't
I was doing Y2K updates for Quik Trip and these clerks had me crying over a story about a drunk guy doing this. The shit convenience store clerks see, Jesus those guys were funny.
The legends say she is still circling the pump to this day.
Like a slapstick comedy 😂
Do you know what the definition of insanity is?
I have met people who have zero ability for 3D visualisation. I'm thinking this is one of those cases, plus a small panic after the second try.
The fact that they probably filled their car up with fuel before and then goes and does this is beyond my comprehension
At one point I thought the video had looped.
