I bet the dealership damaged them to get a insurance instead of trying selling them πŸ˜‚

It's a strategy that wouldn't surprise anyone, considering that Tesla is being investigated for EV rebate fraud in Canada.

Fuckin' shitpumps robbing us taxpayers

[–] alekwithak@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago

1000% insurance fraud.

This is why I'm opposed to that vandalism happening. If cars are vandalized, they get insurance payouts. If they are left alone, they rot on the lot, not selling, and hurting the bottom line. Protest the dealerships, that will be enough deterrent. No need for the vandalism imo.

Not if we keep burning them and the insurance drops their policy. So let's keep burning them and get the insurance to drop their coverage.

What's nice about the fediverse is that you can say this and I can agree and upvote without our accounts getting banned. That, and people over on the other site are clutching pearls about this.

Doesn't get headlines or move momentum forward though. The fire is more visceral. Who cares about money right now. The world is burning might as well burn theirs.

True, but those things are surveillance machines. Covered in cameras, and there's about a thousand or so unique angles that they'll have of you committing the act. I just don't think the juice is worth the squeeze esp when Trump is trying to put terrorism charges on these people. It's not worth rotting in Guantanamo over.

Your lack of participation in the growing fight against oligarchs has been noted

[–] Raiderkev@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Ok guy. Check my post history.

You know if you get into a car accident your insurance goes up. If insurance adjusters see there's a very real persistent and constant danger of Tesla's being lit on fire while at the dealership guess what happens to insurance rates at those dealerships and for Tesla in general of course? What's going to cost them more money at the end of the day?

[–] Showroom7561@lemmy.ca 47 points 2 days ago (1 children)

These dealerships should probably pivot away from selling cars from a Nazi-owned company, eh?

[–] athairmor@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Tesla doesn’t sell through independent dealerships. This only affects Tesla owned dealerships. Which is nice.

[–] Showroom7561@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

LOL. Time to close shop, then. πŸ˜†

You misspelled "Swastikars", it's okay though I still understood what you meant.

I am a used car salesman just for the day.

That'll buff right out.

[–] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 17 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Good job... but could we work on getting those numbers up?

Except the lack of dealerships in MI and only have showrooms that have limited amounts to burn. Would have to torch the whole building.

Hey - you got this

Wear gloves though. Safety first!

I think 80 is the high score so far! You definitely don't want to fuck around and find out in Hamilton.

Oh no......

Do it again.

Rookie numbers. 80 cars is nothing to a billionaire.

[–] FaceDeer@fedia.io 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It causes the insurance companies to crank up the fees for insuring Teslas, which makes people think twice about buying a Tesla, which results in way more than 80 lost sales.

Tesla's valuation is already overinflated based on expectations of future growth rather than current market, so those lost sales end up translating into way more of a loss in value for the stock price than those lost sales' literal dollar value.

Billionaires often leverage their stocks as collateral for loans, so those stocks losing value can end up costing the billionaire more than the dollar value loss alone.

There are some advantageous feedback loops here.

they already are, i believe insurance for the truck is double or triple of similar vehicles. or the owners are probably uninsured themselves, which is probably not the case.
