Sokka literally wiped out a fleet of airships and dumped a bunch of dudes wearing metal armour into the ocean but yea, he definitely wouldn't advocate for violent resistance against an invading force

I haven't watched TLA in a while but I'm pretty sure Sokka specifically has no problem killing fire nation troops. I guess Katara does let that one guy who murdered her mother live and I can't remember any specific instances of her killing someone

Sokka murdered the melon lord in cold blood

Kkkhamas?!

[–] porcupine@lemmygrad.ml 60 points 1 month ago (1 children)

why else would Nickelodeon decide not to depict child soldiers using their magical powers to waterboard imperial occupation troops to death on children’s television if not to show that genocide is good?

[–] stink@lemmygrad.ml 16 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I rewatched the show recently with my partner and I disagree with a lot of the shit they say on there, but of course it is a kids show so it makes sense

[–] DefinitelyNotAPhone@hexbear.net 33 points 1 month ago (2 children)

It doesn't help that Korra came out afterwards and showed conclusive evidence that the creators are shitlibs with terrible politics.

[–] Aradino@hexbear.net 8 points 1 month ago

At least that show was willing to kill people

Every character besides fucking Aang: "You should fucking kill the Fire Lord"

[–] Xiisadaddy@lemmygrad.ml 53 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Isn't it literally a meme how Aang will be like "ive never killed anybody" meanwhile hes throwing people off mountains and shit? Its a kids show. Of course theyre not gonna outright say "Yeah Aang has killed 4500 people."

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 54 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

No you see, it's ok if they die of secondary causes. Just so long as the magic power didn't do the kill, only the stuff afterwards.

For example, if I shoot you with a laser beam? Killing. If I shoot a laserbeam at a cliff that causes and avalanche? That's not killing you just happened to die from an avalanche.

Liberals literally conceive of a lot of violence this way. It's why social murder isn't murder to them.

Not to mention every other character is telling him to straight up murder the bad guy, even his son. They clearly have no problems fighting back against their oppression with violence.

This is one of the weaker compilations I think. What the Koizilla did can be attributed to La and to my knowledge Aang didn't kill any sandbenders. He definitely killed all those soldiers in the northern air temple though, indirectly killed an entire airship crew at the finale and I don't think all of Zuko's men could have survived in the first episode, between drowning and hypothermia, but it's never mentioned so maybe they did.

Then again the tank operators in Bumi's makeshift tower survived somehow, maybe avalanche and airship explosions aren't that fatal.

[–] FALGSConaut@hexbear.net 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It was the first that came up when I googled it shrug-outta-hecks but yea there are probably better compilations out there

I'll give you aang not necessarily being responsible for the ocean spirit kills but iirc he did destroy those sand benders only mode of transport in the middle of the desert sooo....

During that same time he also killed some of those giant bug things because he was upset about Appa's capture and he still claims he holds all life sacred.

Anyway, Aang is a hypocrite and all of his allies are fine with using violence as a tool to resist oppression

[–] AmarkuntheGatherer@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I rewatched the scene with the sandbenders and you're 100% correct, he destroyed 3/3 of their vehicles, leaving only the one Gaang found before. Those fuckers are toast :P

“oh you dont support genocide? then dont claim to like this cartoon i’ve completely misconstrued the plot of. fucking stupid idiot.”

[–] Rom@hexbear.net 45 points 1 month ago

Any violence by an oppressed people against their oppressor is legitimate self defense.

The Palestinians just need to learn magic Kung Fu, then white people might learn to sympathize

[–] SovietBeerTruckOperator@hexbear.net 25 points 1 month ago (1 children)

the Hamas the-boys-are-back-in-town was basically airbending.

Yeah, until the avatar is reborn as a Palestinian who can use his secret fourth type of magic kung-fu to mind-bend the genocidal thoughts out of the zionist leadership, the Palestinians are going to have to make do with returning unexploded bombs to the occupying forces.

[–] SpiderFarmer@hexbear.net 12 points 1 month ago

Introducing the leadbender. Bends those genocidal thoughts right out of nazis heads.

[–] propter_hog@hexbear.net 39 points 1 month ago

"Secret tunnel! Secret tunnel! Under the hospital!" I think that's the way that song went.

[–] hello_hello@hexbear.net 37 points 1 month ago (3 children)

I can't wait for the new avatar show to be even more shitlib than the last one.

[–] Z_Poster365@hexbear.net 31 points 1 month ago (1 children)

will be hard to beat Legends of Korra, where killing an evil queen is an unforgivable crime but running a fascist empire with concentration camps and trying to conquer the world in a giant gundam is just a small slip up that can be redeemed

[–] SpiderFarmer@hexbear.net 14 points 1 month ago

Fuck, does this mean the Boxers comic I picked up yesterday might suck?

Anyone with a brain can see that the gang in that show are the "terrorists".

[–] happybadger@hexbear.net 32 points 1 month ago (3 children)

To all the people who are Teletubbies fans and support "Free Palestine" and/or Hamas, Po and Tinky-Winky NEVER supported murder as a form of resistance.

[–] keepcarrot@hexbear.net 19 points 1 month ago

A shameful error on the writers of teletubbies

But the sun, on the other hand, would go on to be an al-Nusra cofounder.

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 30 points 1 month ago (2 children)

For all the “I stand with Israel” ATLA fans. Katara and Sokka NEVER supported murder as a form of conflict resolution!

Why do you think you’re exempt?

[–] AmarkuntheGatherer@lemmygrad.ml 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

All the Zionist entity supporters fall into one of two camps when called out on this, against-both-sides enlightened centrists and no-war-without-hamas types. Either way they don't see a contradiction.

Besides, in ATLA [seemingly] all it takes to redeem the imperialist nation is putting a good guy in charge, which is in line with what the genocide enthusiasts preach, that the buck stops with Netanyahu. It never occurs to them that the viable alternatives are all pro-genocide.

i almost felt dizzy trying to read that text

[–] Blakey@hexbear.net 15 points 1 month ago

Okay? It's children's media. I'm okay with children's fantasy media remaining optimistic about the possibility of overcoming tyranny without loss of life. That doesn't mean that the allies were wrong to fight Hitler with tanks, guns, and bombs.
