Since i do appreciate (rap) songs even if i don't understand them, I need some recommendations from YOU for non-english rap songs or artists.

(I can't really distinguish genres, so I'm trusting your judgment whether your recommendation fits)

(I'm also not a fan of german rap but you can recommended that regardless)

Edit: Thank you all for the recommendations 🐐. I did find a lot of new songs.

I didn't think I saw it mentioned. The 257ers are a good German duo.

Kneecap when they sing in Gaelic

[–] Grail@multiverse.soulism.net 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Bloodywood are metal, but they also rap in Hindi

[–] lasta@piefed.world 3 points 4 days ago

One of the things I love to hear most in music is artists adding traditional or folk elements from their countries. Even though I find Bloodywood’s English lyrics corny, they’re doing something original, and the harsh vocals in Hindi are great.

Creepy Nuts’ album LEGION from last year is quite good if you want some Japanese rap. They’ve gotten pretty big over the last few years due to being featured on Anime intros for shows like DanDaDan and Mashle.

MC Solaar and Guru's Le Bien, Le Mal had some attention at some point in the history of humans

[–] BertramDitore@lemmy.zip 2 points 4 days ago

Came here to mention MC Solaar. His talent is mind blowing.

manu chao's mi gustas tu and his classic album Clandestino in entirety.

edit: i changed choice of manu chao songs because i'm fickle; but Welcome to Tijuana and el disapericdo are more greatness from them.

[–] gigachad@piefed.social 3 points 4 days ago

I love Many Chao, but I would have never interpreted it as rap? Anyway, OP said they cannot distinguish genres so it does not matter.

Though they don't classify exactly as rap, a bunch of their songs have strong rap elements. This one is with a sample of the legendary Umm Kulthum :)

It’s not a genre I listen to often, especially not the new music, but these would be my top choices for Balkan rap:

  • Beogradski Sindikat

  • Edo Maajka

  • Gru

  • Tram 11

  • Dubioza Kolektiv

[–] myrmidex@belgae.social 5 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

This is my favourite Romanian hip-hop song.

EDIT: come to think of it, I'm also much into Kalash Criminel, the only french hip-hop I can play endlessly next to Shuriken's Samurai, Bouga's Belsunce Breakdown and DJ Cutkiller's Nique La Police.

The Herd - Unpredictable has some English, but it also has a few other languages and it keeps getting faster. I enjoy it a lot.
