1. Relevant commentary on your own dull life. Posts should be about your own dull, lived experience. This is our most important rule. Direct questions, random thoughts, comment baiting, advice seeking, many uses of "discuss" rarely comply with this rule.

2. Original, Fresh, Meaningful Content.

3. Avoid repetitive topics.

4. This is not a search engine
Use a search engine, a tradesperson, Reddit, friends, a specialist Facebook group, apps, Wikipedia, an AI chat, a reverse image search etc. to answer simple questions or identify objects. Also see rule 1, “comment baiting”.

There are a number of content specific communities with subject matter experts who can help you.

Some other communities to consider before posting:

5. Keep it dull. If it puts us to sleep, it’s on the right track. Examples of likely not dull: jokes, gross stuff (including toes), politics, religion, royalty, illness or injury, killing things for fun, or promotional content. Feel free to post these elsewhere.

6. No hate speech, sexism, or bullying No sexism, hate speech, degrading or excessively foul language, or other harmful language. No othering or dehumanizing of anyone or negativity towards any gender identity.

7. Proofread before posting. Use good grammar and punctuation. Avoid useless phrases. Some examples: - starting a post with "So" - starting a post with pointless phrases, like "I hope this is allowed" or “this is my first post” Only share good quality, cropped images. Do not share screenshots of images; share the original image.

It must be how I sit because it doesn't happen to my right foot.

The sock topologically rotates because it remembers the wash spin cycle and the dryer.

It becomes entangled.

Socks which disappear in the dryer, well, they just do the equivalent of rotating beyond gimbal lock, in hyperdimensional space, of which our reality is merely a 3D shadow.

... the 'quantum spin' theory of 'socks doing somewhat odd things'.

Then explain the right sock, nerdddddddd

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 hour ago

... what right sock?

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago (1 children)
[–] KeenFlame@feddit.nu 2 points 4 hours ago

You mean quasi-sock

[–] Impractical_Island@lemmy.world 15 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

Just get a new foot so this stops happening. I have some old, discount feet if you want one for cheap. Most are Australian, though I do have some Maltans in here, somewhere.

[–] JustAnotherPodunk@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

Pics? I may be interested, but I need to know if they are quality or not. Gotta make sure I'm not getting scammed.

Officer, right over here.

(an offering of officer feet for your collection)

[–] Impractical_Island@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

If I wanted pig feet, I'd take pictures of my own

[–] Impractical_Island@lemmy.world 1 points 10 hours ago

Ah shit, I fucked up guys. Pack it up in the van. Now the battle is lost!

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 10 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago) (1 children)

Looks like you're making too many left turns.

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago

me getting lost in a fallout game

[–] ExperimentalGuy@programming.dev 5 points 13 hours ago

There's a small beetle living in your shoe whose sole job is to slightly inconvenience you in any way possible. It has arrived on this method of podiatric torture.

[–] XeroxCool@lemmy.world 5 points 14 hours ago

You said "how you sit" which makes me think you're not walking much. Do you rub your feet on the floor, carpet, shoe, other foot, etc? Stimming like that can rotate my socks, but I don't have it happen when walking. I don't exactly rub them in the same way

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 20 points 18 hours ago

It's actually your foot rotating inside the sock.

[–] lessthanluigi 27 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Finally, some dull content!

[–] hactar42@lemmy.world 19 points 15 hours ago

When I pointed it out to my wife and she just replied with, "I don't know what you want me to do with that information," I knew it was perfect for this community

[–] vext01@feddit.uk 138 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Ah yes. The philosopher's sock. Sockrotates.

[–] goodgame@feddit.uk 4 points 4 hours ago

I had holes in mine so I took them to a tailor. "Euripides" he stated, "Eumenides?" I asked.

[–] faintwhenfree@lemmus.org 29 points 1 day ago

Wittiest joke of 2026. Bravo.

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 4 points 16 hours ago (2 children)

You may pronate on one side. It could be fixable with orthotics.

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

Oh yeah, yeah, definitely. I know some of these words!

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 9 hours ago

Your left foot is probably slightly smaller than the right, so the sock is looser, and gets twisted.

It's common to have feet of different sizes. There's nearly a half size difference between mine.

[–] i_dont_want_to@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 15 hours ago

Your left foot is a fan of Bonnie Taylor. This is normal.

[–] Elgenzay@lemmy.ml 25 points 1 day ago

Think you're due for an alignment

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 8 points 22 hours ago

If you are lost in the woods just follow the direction of your left sock otherwise you'll end up walking in circles. /s

[–] solarvector@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago) (2 children)

Toe socks! (Also available in non-rainbow)

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 2 points 8 hours ago

Why would you get them in any other color? I mean, every toe is a different color. That's not going to happen with black or blue socks.

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 13 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

These come free with your arch distro

[–] Eggymatrix@sh.itjust.works 4 points 14 hours ago (1 children)
[–] ThunderQueen@lemmy.world 5 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

Mine came free, just $25 in shipping and service fees

[–] oce@jlai.lu 41 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

The skin mites on your left foot socialized and joined forces to shift your sock so they could share the most nourishing parts.
The right foot's ones may be more individualistic.

[–] ikidd@lemmy.world 25 points 1 day ago

You need to buy a new foot.

[–] Nighed@feddit.uk 13 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (3 children)

Has the quality of the socks decreased? My last set of those was awful. (Switched to Tesco's workman's socks, last forever)

[–] grueling_spool@sh.itjust.works 8 points 17 hours ago

Anecdotally, every article of Hanes clothing I have ever worn has been of remarkably poor quality.

[–] Dozzi92@lemmy.world 2 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

I'm a dress socks guy, but yes, I have some old socks that were comfortable, the elasticity was perfect. New socks are either stiff, shitty elastic, bad material. I cannot find good ones anywhere, besides one brand in particular. I used to go to express or men's wearhouse and they had great socks (and boxers), and it's like those are t a thing anymore.

[–] Nighed@feddit.uk 2 points 12 hours ago

I use Tesco workman's socks (I imagine UK only) and step one underwear - really good, but have been advertising recently, so I don't know if they are enshiterfying.

[–] FudgyMcTubbs@lemmy.world 2 points 14 hours ago

Can confirm -- i have the same socks and they fucking suck. They started wearing through in like 3 or 4 months. Trying out some Duluth socks.

[–] adarza@piefed.ca 31 points 1 day ago (2 children)

that's a special feature of hanes socks from walmart.

[–] FudgyMcTubbs@lemmy.world 1 points 14 hours ago

I have those same shit socks. Never buying Hanes socks again.

Self cleaning I see.

[–] jimp@feddit.uk 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

My right sock does it! Sock bros

[–] Jojowski@sopuli.xyz 9 points 21 hours ago

Swap socks with OP to create singularity

[–] Tikiporch@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

Your socks don't fit. Your right foot may be slightly bigger or maybe sticky?

[–] Grimy@lemmy.world 17 points 1 day ago (2 children)

How you walk as well maybe. Get scientific about it and keep a notebook where you track the position and what you were doing at the time.

film it to check how bad your pronation is

[–] Hadriscus@jlai.lu 11 points 1 day ago

Attach a gyroscope and beam data to your phone!

[–] ladicius@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Your left sock doesn't follow earths rotation.

[–] Jojowski@sopuli.xyz 5 points 21 hours ago

Maybe they live on the other side of the globe
