CBC has announced plans to air Canadian Olympic-themed content in its old time slot.

As a participant and fan of Olympic weightlifting this is pretty interesting to me. Canada has some good lifters, too, like Maude Charron or Braydon Kennedy.

While the NHL says this spring's Stanley Cup playoffs were its most watched on record in the U.S., according to ESPN, its viewership in general has been declining. In 2025, Sports Business Journal reported the NHL's regular-season viewership was its lowest yet.

Oh, so the strategy of putting all your attention to the American market while ignoring the Canadian market that makes the league function, both in terms of viewership and players, isn't working out great? How sad.

Not only that it is to expensive to play as a child. So people grow up not playing hockey and don't like it as much.

Who could have seen that coming?

I’m not sad to see the NHL go. WHL and junior league is much more interesting (and affordable).

And maybe now we’ll see more of our national sport in that timeslot? Lacrosse Night in Canada has a nice ring to it.

I’ve got a nice jingle they could use too!
