Fucking Harry S. Truman got why this shit was a problem.

I've seen it happen time after time. When the Democratic candidate allows himself to be put on the defensive and starts apologizing for the New Deal and the fair Deal, and says he really doesn't believe in them, he is sure to lose. The people don't want a phony Democrat. If it's a choice between a genuine Republican, and a Republican in Democratic clothing, the people will choose the genuine article, every time; that is, they will take a Republican before they will a phony Democrat, and I don't want any phony Democratic candidates in this campaign. Remember that if you are a real political party, your end goal is to enact policy. Winning election is just one mean (amongst many) to achieve that.

Abandoning policy to win election means that you are an unserious political party, some would say a lifestyle brand

[–] Bloomcole@lemm.ee 10 points 2 weeks ago

The Uniparty have the same core policy as ever.
Endless war and regime changes, unconditional support for Pissrael genociders, banks, multinationals and oligarchs.

acknowledging public perception of the party as “weak and woke” needs to change. She is urging Democrats to “fucking retake the flag” with appeals to voters’ sense of patriotism, to adopt “the goddamn Alpha energy” of Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell and to embrace an “airing out” of potential 2028 presidential candidates in a broadly contested primary.

Slotkin plans to deliver another speech — which is set to focus on “killing sacred cows” — sometime next month.

“I don’t think we need to hide the fact that Trump is flooding the zone and making us look 12 different ways at the same time,” Slotkin said. “But again, because I come from the national security background, there’s no end to fighting unless you’re dead.”

We're trapped in the belly of this horrible machine

Lol libs and adding “fuck” to sound tough

Also the Lions lost to the racial stereotype team. Perfect analogy for 2028.

[–] WhatDoYouMeanPodcast@hexbear.net 71 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Kamala was talking about having the most lethal military in the world in response a question about Gaza. What the fuck were they doing that's woke?

[–] Frogmanfromlake@hexbear.net 63 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

The republicans ran a “she’s for they/them and not you” ad which convinced Democratic strategists that they cared too much about the queers. Also you’re evil and hate queers if you don’t vote for them.

[–] CeliacMcCarthy@hexbear.net 37 points 2 weeks ago

not killing you, personally

[–] WizardOfLoneliness@hexbear.net 61 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

the democrats act like the only eligible voters for them to attract are the ones voting for the other fucking side

[–] ElChapoDeChapo@hexbear.net 34 points 2 weeks ago

maybe-later-honey "but the people who don't vote didn't vote and so long as we keep fulfilling our own prophecy they never will"

[–] Llituro@hexbear.net 55 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Isn't she a literal CIA type?

[–] MolotovHalfEmpty@hexbear.net 68 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Literal CIA analyst. Bush-era psycho. Did three 'active' tours as CIA during that time & got shitcanned after the goldrush, ran a failed consultancy for less than two years & got picked up by the Dems as an asset.

[–] Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net 18 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Was she the one on charge of Gitmo or Abu Ghraib? I think one of these CIA ghouls became a senator or joined Obama's cabinet, I don't remember.

[–] adultswim_antifa@hexbear.net 50 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 54 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The best way to beat the confederates is to embrace moderate slavery

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 40 points 2 weeks ago

Surely this time Diet Republican will beat Full Strength Republican.

[–] OldSoulHippie@hexbear.net 39 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Michigan dems are all taking a hard right turn

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 36 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Oh, running as south park republicans? That totally worked in 2016 and 2024

But hey, best 3 out of 5, right?

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 34 points 2 weeks ago

"be more right wing"

[–] GenderIsOpSec@hexbear.net 33 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, that'll work and not make you look like a grifter to the fascist crowd. Fucking idiot, why would they vote for the Republican Lite Party when the Republican Party is right there???

paid to lose

[–] BeamBrain@hexbear.net 32 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Democrats are just Republicans on a five-year delay

[–] vegeta1@hexbear.net 19 points 2 weeks ago

Temporarily embarrassed Republicans

[–] kristina@hexbear.net 30 points 2 weeks ago

being a woman not in a bikini is already really woke by republican standards

[–] Rojo27@hexbear.net 29 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

flashbang from both sides of the aisle taking turns to degrade the meaning of words. Amazing, that's really reaching across to jagoff each other.

[–] Guamer@hexbear.net 28 points 2 weeks ago

[–] Fishroot@hexbear.net 27 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I also have a war plan:

Try to spot the president preferably with a scope at 800m or more

[–] comrade_pibb@hexbear.net 17 points 2 weeks ago

center mass, bucko

[–] CyborgMarx@hexbear.net 24 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

Good, it's blatantly clear the US "left" has to be forced to go third party, cause they sure as shit aren't taking that critical responsibility on themselves

Maybe some hard CIA medicine will wake the berniecrats up, tho I doubt it considering a genocide couldn't do the trick

Yeah she may be bad, but have you considered that there is a fucking Cheeto in the white house???

[–] GoodGuyWithACat@hexbear.net 20 points 2 weeks ago

This reminded me of one of the most cursed articles I've ever read (from 2019)

The other Squad with military and intelligence backgrounds

[–] Frogmanfromlake@hexbear.net 19 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I have a feeling she might be the Dem nominee in 2028.

[–] Leon_Grotsky@hexbear.net 22 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

I have been predicting since ~2018 that the so-called "competent fascist" after Trump was going to come from the Democrat party. Elissa Slotkin may not be that person, but her rhetoric over the last couple months has kept me confident in that prediction.

You should be strong and woke.

[–] MineDayOff@hexbear.net 17 points 2 weeks ago

God damn my state

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 16 points 2 weeks ago

I'm still in the "elections are over" camp and think Republicans will find a way to just not have elections anymore. It'd be a stupid move, but that hasn't stopped them so far.

[–] Hestia@hexbear.net 9 points 2 weeks ago

Every day I add more and more people to a completely innocuous list.

[–] CleverOleg@hexbear.net 9 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Tbh I’m not sure most of your typical Dem voters are gonna fall for this type of right wing framing from Dem politicians anymore. I’m not saying AOC has a clear shot at being nomination, but anecdotally when I engage with Dem voters in my personal life (of all ages), they honestly seem fed up with the Dems constantly trying to outflank Republicans from the right. I actually think a Dem that embraces the “maybe we should be democrats” idea (say like Pritzker) probably could win the nomination.
