Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

I would love if the president had to be able to run a mile and do pull-ups. Might keep these braindead racists off the throne.

[–] Lembot_0004@discuss.online 21 points 11 months ago (4 children)

Won't work. Brain-dead racists can be physically fit.

[–] fluxion@lemmy.world 14 points 11 months ago

Or they'll just make exceptions because hypocrisy is a strategy not a weakness for them

[–] n3m37h@sh.itjust.works 10 points 11 months ago

But it would likely stop 60+ year olds from being president

[–] GraniteM@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

But would it be worse than the current system?

[–] Lembot_0004@discuss.online 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

It might: imagine if your country were controlled by a young and energetic brain-dead racist, not an old covfefe who might die any moment.

You’re talking about the vice president? But instead of trafficking teen girls, we’ll see endless articles on sofas

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Probably, yeah. Do you think Bernie could do it?

[–] ebolapie@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

Bernie runs.

[–] Jakeroxs@sh.itjust.works 18 points 11 months ago (1 children)

A presidential fitness test for the president and congress would be pretty cool actually.

[–] als@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Or, more likely, it'd just be used to keep disabled people even further out of politics than they already are

[–] Jakeroxs@sh.itjust.works 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Obviously we'd need special rules for the disabled

[–] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 1 points 11 months ago

Yeah, wouldn't wanna pass up on another potential FDR!

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 11 months ago

he has never ran, he wont be able to if hes wearing those lifts.

[–] betterdeadthanreddit@lemmy.world 55 points 11 months ago (1 children)

A little strange for a guy who shouldn't be allowed near schools to begin with.

[–] kent_eh@lemmy.ca 3 points 11 months ago

Not to mention a guy who wouldn't be caught dead in a gym.

[–] AmidFuror@fedia.io 47 points 11 months ago (2 children)

How many hamberders do the kids have to eat to get the certificate?

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 18 points 11 months ago (1 children)

That’s enough out of you. We don’t feed school children in this country! The balls on this one. Someone alert ICE!

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

Hey now, easy fix. They'll only have to earn that lunch money down in the mines.

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago (1 children)

My wife said he should have to do. She also said throw in some math questions too.

[–] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago

Or just have him draw a clock.

[–] hydrashok@sh.itjust.works 44 points 11 months ago (1 children)

No one can do it because they all have bone spurs. So sad, but what can you do?

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 16 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I had bone spurs in my shoulder once. Then I had an operation and no longer had bone spurs. Then my shoulder worked normally, and I could do normal things.

[–] MML@sh.itjust.works 21 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Well that's why you're not president

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 1 points 11 months ago

This explains everything

Fat racist* pedo* slob

[–] some_guy 21 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Let's see him pass one as a show of good faith.

[–] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

But if he shits himself and collapses after 20 paces he's disqualified right?

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 19 points 11 months ago

Its not bringing anything back. Obama just improved it and he wants to go back to the old way.

[–] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 19 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Ah, so wanting kids to pass tests that would put them on the path to military fitness or provide lists of capable soldiers. I see what you’re doing…

[–] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 2 points 11 months ago

Honestly this is an idea we should have been getting ahead of.

Gonna need some able bodies to rush the new reichstag.

[–] Goldholz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 18 points 11 months ago

He goes first

[–] dogslayeggs@lemmy.world 15 points 11 months ago

OK, fine. Sure, whatever.

[–] Doubleohdonut@lemmy.ca 13 points 11 months ago

Ha ha mis-read the title and thought he was doing a public demonstration of his own fitness. I could use the laugh.

[–] brendansimms@lemmy.world 8 points 11 months ago (1 children)

According to the article the program only ended in 2013? I was in high school before that date in the states and never heard anything about a fitness test

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 10 points 11 months ago

I remember it from elementary school in the 80s. Not from high school though.

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 6 points 11 months ago

Is he bringing this back in order to find fit children to rape?

[–] riskable@programming.dev 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I'm confused. I thought they didn't want the brown people to be more fit than law enforcement?

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 1 points 11 months ago

If that was a serious concern, there wouldn’t be so many overweight cops.

[–] swelter_spark@reddthat.com 1 points 11 months ago

I hated these. I just wanted to play games and have fun in gym class.

[–] Wubby@lemmy.world -1 points 11 months ago

Make America fit again.
